Top Tips To Help You Stop Procrastinating

Here are my top tips to help you stop procrastinating:

Tip #1 Small Chunks

Just divide all the things you have to do into small chunks. It doesn't matter if you only have a little time and think it's not worth starting anything now. Honestly IT IS! If I'd have done lots of little bits daily in my business (when I thought I didn't have enough time) I'd be much further ahead than I am now!

There are many times I can think of now where I wasted 30 mins at least thinking about pointless things when I could have listened to half an hour of audio training, written a blog, filmed a video or done some internet research etc! So YES these snippets of time are so valuable for doing SOMETHING! Perhaps you're a mum like me who is always busy, looking after children, doing housework, working part time and also building a business from home. You may also have pets and other commitments which keep you constantly tied up! So therefore any snippet of time is valuable! So use them wisely!

Tip #2 Brainstorm & Write A Weekly Plan

Firstly do a brainstorm or brain splurge on paper where you literally write out all of the things you need to do. That will instantly make you feel better! I used to find that I had so much to do I was scared to think about everything so it was easier to block it out and just do nothing! Very productive!!

So if you just get every single thing out on paper that you need to do, then prioritise each task and make a weekly plan. Then you can see clearly what you need to do and when. Give realistic time scales as otherwise you'll put too much in one day, not get it done and feel bad! So write down what you think you'll achieve per day. Even if you don't get around to doing everything that day, just be gentle with yourself knowing that you've been productive and forward those things on to the following day.

Tip #3 Change your environment

If you're finding that you're not getting much inspiration to do any work then try changing your location/environment. You may normally work in a particular room but perhaps you're not feeling motivated. Whether you change rooms or even go out and find a coffee shop or go for a walk, changing your environment can really help you get back on track and help stop you procrastinating.

Tip #4 Listen to Music

Try listening to music, something that gets you really revved up and in the mood for working. Some people have running music to help them run faster, such as 'eye of the tiger'. I love a song by Enigma and even though it's not a fast song, I feel energised when I listen to it and it makes me want to get on and work my business. It also makes me feel happy and empowered. So try it for yourself and have fun choosing a song or songs to give you momentum!

Tip #5 Have a buddy

Either have one person, like a buddy or tell various friends and family what you're doing. Then you're holding yourself accountable for getting things done. If someone is expecting to receive a blog or report etc from you at a certain time or day then you're more likely to get it done on time rather than if you're just going to put it out there for anyone to see. If you're advertising something or are broadcasting material to nobody in particular then it's easy to procrastinate and let other more pressing things come first. So always believe there is someone waiting for you to deliver.

Tip #6 Just Do It!

Often we want things to be done perfectly and if they're not, we don't finish what we're doing, and therefore end up procrastinating! You may have to be a bit harsh with yourself, like a personal trainer can be, and just get on with it! Rather than making excuses and trying to make something so perfect that you end up procrastinating, just take control and TAKE ACTION! I promise you will feel so much better afterwards!

Working on my business from home has helped me learn a lot about myself and how easily I can procrastinate! But the reason WHY I'm working for myself from home is so important that it makes me have lots of 'Get Up & Go' and want to work hard! My WHY is my children who I want to spend as much time as possible with. And I want to give them the best life possible.

I wish you luck in your journey to stop procrastinating!

Transform Your Life With The Power Of Positive Thinking

Can you guess what the most successful and happy people think about all day long?

The answer is quite simple…

Healthy, happy people think about what they want, and how to get it, most of the time. Developing a positive attitude can truly change your entire life.

When you think and talk about what you want and how to get it, you feel happier and in greater control of your life. When you think about something that makes you happy, your brain actually releases endorphins, which give you a generalized feeling of well-being.

As a result, you develop a positive attitude.

The Most Important Quality

Based on many psychological tests, happy people seem to have a special quality that enables them to live a better life than the average.

Can you guess what it is?

It’s the quality of optimism!

The best news about optimism is that it is a learnable quality.

By the law of cause and effect, if you do and say what other healthy, happy people do and say, you will soon feel the same way, get the same results, and enjoy the same positive attitude and experiences that they do.
Happy People Find Good In The World

Optimists seem to have different ways of dealing with the world that set them apart from the average.
First, they keep their minds on what they want, and keep looking for ways to get it. They are clear about goals and they are confident that they will accomplish them, sooner or later.
Second, optimists look for the good in every problem or difficulty. When things go wrong, as they often do, they say, “That’s good!” And then set about finding something positive about the situation.

What we know is that, if you are looking for something good or beneficial in a person or situation, you will always find it. And while you are looking, you will be a more positive and cheerful person.

The Power Of Positive Thinking

Optimists seek the valuable lesson in every setback or reversal. Rather than getting upset and blaming someone else for what has happened, they take control over their emotions by saying, “What can I learn from this experience?”

Resolve today to develop a positive attitude toward yourself, the people around you and your life.
Decide To Be Happy

Resolve from now to see your glass of life as half full rather than half empty. Happy people give thanks for the many blessings in life rather than worrying or complaining about the things they do not have.

Assume the best of intentions on the part of everyone around you. Most people are pretty decent, honest and are trying to do the very best they know how to. When you look for something good in their words and actions, you will almost always find something.

Finally, resolve to be cheerful, no matter what happens.

Looking on the bright side is most important when things go wrong.
Your Positive Attitude In Action

It is easy to to be cheerful when everything is going according to plan. But, it is when you encounter unexpected setbacks and difficulties that you demonstrate to yourself, and the world around you, what kind of an attitude you really have.

Make sure that it is a positive one!

Thank you for reading my blog about the power of positive thinking and developing a positive attitude. I hope it will inspire you to see the good in others and help you to improve your life.

8 Harsh Reasons as to Why You’re Still Broke

Okay so you’re broke, perhaps in debt, and just really wanting to have a career that you love and can be proud of? One that will make you good money? Well then maybe this is for you.

We all want to make a lot of money, but for most people who have this common goal they struggle to ever get anywhere near where they want to be, and all it raises within them is doubt. Doubt of why it’s not happening for them but is for others. Here’s 8 reasons as to why you’re still broke.

1) You Give up too Easily

The first half a year, or year of starting a business, a website, a career or whatever it is you want to do is a test. You’ll be tested on your commitment and love to do what it is you’re doing.

Within this time you will experience struggles, and failure, but this is all part of the test and if you want to prove that you’re in this for the long run, and that you deserve to have the things you want, then you need to do what must be done to prove yourself worthy.

2) You’re Lacking Motivation

There are far too many people in this world that sit around saying “I wish I was rich”, “It’d be nice if we had a pay rise” and all the other garbage that they just expect to come to them. You don’t just wake up one day and find someone’s deposited a hundred grand into your bank account.

The wealthy people in this world aren’t wishing for things and just hoping they’ll come into some money. They’re the people who spend less time wishing and more time doing. If you really want something then you need to go out and put your heart and soul into it.

Don’t just think to yourself that someone kind will just come along and give you what you want.

3) You’re in Love With Your T.V
My dream car is a Lamborghini Murcielago, in a less common color like blue or green. It’s just one thing I’ve always had in my mind ever since I was younger playing the ‘Need for Speed’ games. Anyway, one day I was looking for the perfect one on Google images, as you do, and I found a quote that really spoke to me.

“Why haven’t you ever seen a Lamborghini commercial before? Because the people who can afford them aren’t sitting around watching T.V.” The truth is, if you’re sitting around watching T.V for most of the day or evening, then you’re basically watching what’s going on in other people’s lives instead of going out and creating a life of your own.

T.V is not real life. Turn it off and start living.

4) Sleep is Your Best Friend

If you really want to be rich and successful, but you’re still getting more than 8 hours of sleep, then you’re wasting valuable time. 6 to 7 hours sleep is perfectly fine, but if you’re not getting up early enough in the mornings you could be missing opportunities to make money or improve upon yourself.

When you go to sleep tonight, place your alarm clock next to your bedroom door and set it to go off an hour earlier than normal. When you get up to turn that annoying sound off, you’ll be up out of bed and facing your bedroom door.

All you have to do is walk out of the door, make yourself a cup of coffee and have an extra hour of working on yourself! Whatever it may be. The laziest thing you could do is to turn that alarm off, turn around and then get back into your bed.

5) You’ve Adopted Bad Habits

All that smoking, drinking, watching T.V, browsing Facebook and other crap you’ve been doing, isn’t going to have an amazing effect on your life. If you’re going to grow as a person, then some discipline needs to be gained in these areas, in order for you to have strength of body, mind and soul.

Kick the habits, and start trying to actually improve your life.

6) You Hang out With the Wrong Crowd

They say that you become just like the 5 people you spend the most time with. Which should make you question yourself whether you’re current friends are actually good for you. Sure they may be a great laugh, and that’s a good thing.

But do they have any dreams, goals or aspirations?

7) All Talk no Action

Are you familiar with a process where you have this amazing idea pop into your head, and instead of then proceeding to work on it, you start adding more thoughts onto the idea you already have.

At the end of your life, you end up with this incredible idea that you’ve thought through for so many years, but it’s useless because you have no time left to take action on it.

The wealthiest place in the world is the graveyard. It’s where so many ideas and inventions come to die. Champions don’t start out with a perfect idea. They start out with an idea and make it perfect through the hard work that they put in.

8) You Have no Plan

Having a plan isn’t exactly essential to become wealthy and successful, but if you’ve been broke up until now then perhaps you should think about creating one for yourself.

Where do you want to be in a few years time? Do you still want to be where you are or do you want to be in the job of your dreams, earning a great amount of money?

If it’s the latter, then you’ll need a plan of how you’re going to be able to get there. Do you know what you need to do to make this dream become a reality? Then write it down, and split it into small baby steps.

How to Stop Overthinking Everything: 9 Simple Habits

What is holding people back from the life that they truly want to live?

I’d say that one very common and destructive thing is that they think too much.

They overthink every little problem until it becomes bigger and scarier and it actually is. Overthink positive things until they don’t look so positive anymore.

Or overanalyze and deconstruct things and so the happiness that comes from just enjoying something in the moment disappears.

Now, thinking things through can be a great thing of course. But being an overthinker can result in becoming someone who stands still in life. In becoming someone who self-sabotages the good things that happen in life.

I know. I used to overthink things a lot and it held me back in ways that weren’t fun at all.

But in the past 8 years or so I have learned how to make this issue so small that it very rarely pops up anymore. And if it does then I know what to do then to overcome it.

In this article I would like to share 9 habits that have helped me in a big, big way to become a simpler and smarter thinker and to live a happier and less fearful life.

1. Put things into a wider perspective.

It is very easy to fall into the trap of overthinking minor things in life.

So when you are thinking and thinking about something ask yourself:

Will this matter in 5 years? Or even in 5 weeks?

I have found that widening the perspective by using this simple question can snap me quickly out of overthinking and help me to let that situation go and focus my time and energy on something that actually does matter to me.

2. Set short time-limits for decisions.

If you do not have a time-limit for when you must make a decision and take action then you can just keep turning your thoughts around and around and view them from all angles in your mind for a very long time.

So learn to become better at making decisions and to spring into action by setting deadlines in your daily life. No matter if it is a small or bigger decision.

Here’s what have worked for me.
For small decisions like if should go and do the dishes, respond to an email or work out I usually give myself 30 seconds or less to make a decision.
For somewhat larger decisions that would have taken me days or weeks to think through in the past I use a deadline for 30 minutes or for the end of the workday.

3. Become a person of action.

When you know how to get started with taking action consistently each day then you’ll procrastinate less by overthinking.

Setting deadlines is one thing that have helped me to become much more of person of action.

Taking small steps forward and only focusing on getting one small step done at a time is another habit that have worked really well.

It works so well because you do not feel overwhelmed and so you do not want flee into procrastination. And even though you may be afraid, taking just a step is such a small thing that you do not get paralyzed in fear.

4. Realize that you cannot control everything.

Trying to think things through 50 times can be a way to try to control everything. To cover every eventuality so you do not risk making a mistake, fail or looking like a fool.

But those things are a part of living a life where you truly stretch your comfort zone. Everyone who you may admire and have lived a life that inspires you has failed. They have made mistakes.

But in most cases they have also seen these things as valuable feedback to learn from. Those things that may look negative have taught them a lot and have been invaluable to help them to grow.

So stop trying to control everything. Trying to do so simply doesn’t work because no one can see all possible scenarios in advance.

This is of course easier said than done. So do it in small steps if you like.

5. Say stop in situation where you know you cannot think straight.

Sometimes when I am hungry or when I am lying in bed and are about to go to sleep negative thoughts start buzzing around in my mind.

In the past they could do quite a bit of damage. Nowadays I have become good at catching them quickly and to say to myself:

No, no, we are not going to think about this now.

I know that when I am hungry or sleepy then my mind sometimes tend to be vulnerable to not thinking clearly and to negativity.

So I follow up my “no, no…” phrase and I say to myself that I will think this situation or issue through when I know that my mind will work much better.

For example, after I have eaten something or in the morning after I have gotten my hours of sleep.

It took a bit of practice to get this to work but I have gotten pretty good at postponing thinking in this way. And I know from experience that when I revisit a situation with some level-headed thinking then in 80% of the cases the issue is very small to nonexistent.

And if there is a real issue then my mind is prepared to deal with it in much better and more constructive way.

6. Do not get lost in vague fears.

Another trap that I have fallen into many times that have spurred on overthinking is that I have gotten lost in vague fears about a situation in my life. And so my mind running wild has created disaster scenarios about what could happen if I do something.

So I have learned to ask myself: honestly, what is the worst that could happen?

And when I have figured out what the worst that could happen actually is then I can also spend a little time to think about what I can do if that often pretty unlikely thing happens.

I have found that the worst that could realistically happen is usually something that is not as scary as what my mind running wild with vague fear could produce.

Finding clarity in this way usually only takes a few minutes of time and bit of energy and it can save you a lot of time and suffering.

7. Work out.

This might sound a bit odd.

But in my experience working out – especially with lifting weights – can help me to let go of inner tensions and worries.

It most often makes me feel more decisive and when I was more of an overthinker then it was often my go-to method of changing the headspace I was in to a more constructive one.

8. Spend more of your time in the present moment.

By being in the present moment in your everyday life rather than in the past or a possible future in your mind you can replace more and more of the time you usually spend on overthinking things with just being here right now instead.

Three ways that I often use to reconnect with the present moment are:
Slow down. Slow down how you do whatever you are doing right now. Move slower, talk slower or ride your bicycle more slowly for example. By doing so you become more aware of how you use your body and what is happening all around you right now.
Tell yourself: Now I am… I often tell myself this: Now I am X. And X could be brushing my teeth. Taking a walk in the woods. Or doing the dishes. This simple reminder helps my mind to stop wandering and brings my focus back to what is happening in this moment.
Disrupt and reconnect. If you feel you are getting lost in overthinking then disrupt that thought by – in your mind – shouting this to yourself : STOP! Then reconnect with the present moment by taking just 1-2 minutes to focus fully on what is going on around you. Take it all in with all your senses. Feel it, hear it, smell it, see it and sense it on your skin.

9. Spend more of your time with people who do not overthink things.

Your social environment plays a big part. And not just the people and groups close to you in real life. But also what you read, listen to and watch. The blogs, books, forums, movies, podcasts and music in your life.

So think about if there are any sources in your life – close by or further away – that encourages and tends create more overthinking in your mind. And think about what people or sources that has the opposite effect on you.

Find ways to spend more of your time and attention with the people and sources that have a positive effect on your thinking and less on the influences that tends to strengthen your overthinking habit.

Apply The 80/20 Rule To Everything In Time And Life Management

Before you begin work, always ask yourself, “Is this task in the top 20% of my activities or in the bottom 80%?
The 80/20 Rule is one of the most helpful of all concepts of time and life management. It is also called the Pareto Principle after its founder, the Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who first wrote about it in 1895. Pareto noticed that people in his society seemed to divide naturally into what he called the “vital few,” the top 20% in terms of money and influence, and the “trivial many,” the bottom 80%.

The Great Discovery
He later discovered that virtually all economic activity was subject to this Pareto Principle as well.
For example, this rule says that 20% of your activities will account for 80% of your results. 20% of your customers will account for 80% of your sales. 20% of your products or services will account for 80% of your profits. 20% of your tasks will account for 80% of the value of what you do, and so on.
This means that if you have a list of ten items to do, two of those items will turn out to be worth as much or more than the other eight items put together.
The Greatest Payoff
Here is an interesting discovery. Each of these tasks may take the same amount of time to accomplish. But one or two of those tasks will contribute five or ten times the value as any of the others.
Often, one item on a list of ten things that you have to do can be worth more than all the other nine items put together. This task is invariably the one that you should do first.
The Most Valuable Tasks
The most valuable tasks you can do each day are often the hardest and most complex. But the payoff and rewards for completing these tasks efficiently can be tremendous. For this reason, you must adamantly refuse to work on tasks in the bottom 80% while you still have tasks in the top 20% left to be done.
Before you begin work, always ask yourself, “Is this task in the top 20% of my activities or in the bottom 80%?”
Getting Started
The hardest part of any important task is getting started on it in the first place. Once you actually begin work on a valuable task, you seem to be naturally motivated to continue. There is a part of your mind that loves to be busy working on significant tasks that can really make a difference. Your job is to feed this part of your mind continually.
Managing Your Life
Time management is really life management, personal management. It is really taking control over the sequence of events. Time management is control over what you do next. And you are always free to choose the task that you will do next. Your ability to choose between the important and the unimportant is the key determinant of your success in life and work.
Effective, productive people discipline themselves to start on the most important task that is before them. They force themselves to eat that frog, whatever it is. As a result, they accomplish vastly more than the average person and are much happier as a result. This should be your way of working as well.
Action Exercises
Make a list of all the key goals, activities, projects and responsibilities in your life today. Which of them are, or could be, in the top 10% or 20% of tasks that represent, or could represent, 80% or 90% of your results?
Resolve today that you are going to spend more and more of your time working in those few areas that can really make a difference in your life and career, and less and less time on lower value activities.

Three Keys To Personal Power

There are three personality powers that top leaders use to increase their personal power and influence.

Your Emotions Are Contagious
The first power you can develop is enthusiasm. The more excited you are about accomplishing something that is important to you, the more excited others will be about helping you to do it. The fact is that emotions are contagious. The more passion you have for your life and your activities, the more charisma you will possess, and the more cooperation you will gain from others. Every great man or woman has been totally committed to a noble cause and, as a result, has attracted the support and encouragement of others in many cases, thousands or millions of others.
The Key to CharismaThe second personality power that you can develop is expertise, or competence. The more knowledgeable you are perceived to be in your field, the more charisma you will have among those who respect and admire that knowledge because of the impact it can have on their lives. This is also the power of excellence, of being recognized by others as an outstanding performer in your field. Men and women who do their jobs extremely well and who are recognized for the quality of their work are those who naturally attract the help and support of others. They have charisma.
Prepare Thoroughly for Every Event
The third power of personality that gives you charisma in the eyes of others is thorough preparation, detailed preparation, prior to undertaking any significant task. Whether you are calling on a prospect, meeting with your boss, giving a public talk or making any other kind of presentation, when you are well-prepared, it becomes clear to everyone. The careers of many young people are put onto the fast track as a result of their coming to an important meeting after having done all their homework.
Get on Top of Your Subject
Whether it takes you hours or even days, if an upcoming meeting or interaction is important, take the time to get on top of your subject. Be so thoroughly prepared that nothing can faze you. Think through and consider every possibility and every ramification. Often, this effort to be fully prepared will do more to generate the respect of others than anything else you can do.
Keep Good NotesRemember that the power is always on the side of the person who has done the most preparation and has the best notes. Everything counts. Leave nothing to chance. When you do something related to your work or career, take the time to do it right the first time.
You are a work in progress. You are always growing and improving. Your job is to become the very best leader you can be, and you can – with regular and persistent practice of these personality powers.
Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action.
First, get excited about your goals and your work if you want others to be excited. Express your belief and commitment to others at every opportunity.
Second, dedicate yourself to a lifelong process of getting better and better at what you do. Prepare thoroughly for every event. Set an example in everything you do.

7 Fool-Proof Steps to Achieving Your Goals In 2017

Years ago Scranton University did a survey and found that as high as 92% of people who set their New Year resolutions fail to accomplish them. Only a small 8% of people managed to achieve their resolutions. Why is this so?

Everyone wants to be successful and accomplish their goals; unfortunately, most people fail to do so. And this article is going to show exactly how you can turn your goals into reality.

7 Steps to Achieving Your Goals In 2017

You are going to learn the 7-step strategy that you can use to improve your chances of hitting your goals greatly:

Step #1 – Create the Intention

The first step you need to do is to create the intention. Most people fail because they are not taking any action, or they forget about their goals.

In other words, they never have the intention in their mind. Thus, if you want to achieve what you want in life; build the intention by constantly thinking about your goals.

Successful people are successful because they cannot get their dreams and their goals out of their mind. They constantly think about what they want and what they want to accomplish.

When you think about what you want, you will activate the Law of Attraction and build the intention; hence, you are more likely to take action.

So what do you think about most of the time? Do you think about your goals and what can you do to achieve them all the time? Or do you think about what to eat for dinner, which movie to watch or what you should do over the weekend?

Action Steps: Create intention and reminders for your goals. Practice daily goal setting by writing down your goals every day. You have to review and visit your goals from time to time to program them into your subconscious mind.

Step #2 – Make your goals tangible

The next step you need to do is to make your goals tangible. For instance, you can use affirmations, creative visualization, and a vision board to do this.

You want to make your goals as real as possible. This is why a vision board is so powerful because whenever you look at the things that you want, you remind yourself and consciously think about them.

Most people’s goals are just too vague and they cannot tell if they have achieved them. For example, if your goal is to be happy, or to get rich, how can you measure it?

If it is not measurable, it is not tangible. If your goal is to get rich, how much money do you need in order to become rich? Make it specific and make it tangible.

Action Steps: Make sure your goals are something tangible that you can actually perform and measure. Make your goals actionable.

Step #3 – Practice the ‘Big 5’ Strategy

What you need to do here is to take 5 action steps that will move you toward your goals. No matter how big or small the steps, you must do it.

Action is the bridge that connects what you want and your reality. Without taking action or doing anything, there is no way you can manifest your dreams and your goals.

The action can be as small as making a phone call or sending an email. If you follow this method of doing 5 little things each day, within a year, you will have accomplished 1825 small victories.

Never underestimate the power of consistency. What you do every day is more important than what you do once in a while.

If you take small but consistent action each day, you will eventually reach your goals, as long as you never give up.

Action Steps: Create your plan and milestones to hit each month and each week. Write down the 5 things you need to do the following day the night before.

Step #4 – Improve Your Skills

Abraham Lincoln once said;

“GIVE ME SIX HOURS TO CHOP DOWN A TREE AND I WILL SPEND THE FIRST FOUR SHARPENING THE AXE.”

Sadly, most people never spend any time to improve their skills or knowledge. Most people never read a book after their school days.

Imagine if you read 2 books a month, after a year you will have read 24. And if you can learn something new and improve your skills by at least 1% from a single book, you will become the best in your industry within a few short years.

Why do you think successful people are able to produce remarkable results in their lives? It is through hard work, persistence and their will to constantly improve on what they do.

Action Steps: Commit to reading and learning for at least 30 minutes a day. If you can’t find time for this, just wake up 30 minutes earlier. By just investing 30 minutes into reading, you will have read about 2 books in a month and 24 books in a year. Can you see how this can positively impact your life?

Step #5 – Make A Public Declaration

One of the main reasons people fail to reach their goal is because they are not committed to it. They say they want to build an internet business at night, but when they reach home after working, they choose to watch TV and waste time on Facebook.

When you are interested, you will do what is convenient, but when you are committed; you will do whatever it takes to achieve your goals.

So make a public commitment so that you will be more committed toward your goals. You don’t have to shout to everyone and share your goals with everyone. Choose to share them with those who will support and inspire you.

You can share with your spouse, your friends, colleagues or even your boss. Put yourself on the line so that you cannot fail.

Action Steps: Identify at least 3 people that you would like to share your goals and progress with. You have to create some form of commitment and accountability to put yourself into action.

Step #6 – Tracking Your Progress

This is a very important step that most people never do. They think that goal setting is a one-time job, and they forget about their goals a few days after they set them.

Never let this happen to you. You must consistently track your progress. Create a scoreboard for your actions and the results you are getting.

You should do this at least once a week. People who keep score on their goals are more committed; they know their standings, and they know what they need to do to hit their goals.

When you switch on the TV to watch a football match, the first thing you will check is the score. Imagine the football players playing without the score; do you think they will play as seriously?

When you know your progress and your score, you will understand if you are making progress or are you lacking behind. Your score will motivate you.

Action Steps: Create a scoreboard to track your progress each day. You just need to use a simple spreadsheet for this. It should be something easy to understand and simple to update.

Step #7 – Review Your Results

What happens when you take action but never get the results you want? And what happens if you don’t manage to reach your goals by the deadline?

This is where most people will give up and quit. Please understand that the main reason you set a goal is so that the goal can direct you and tell you what to do and where to go in your life.

If you fail to reach your goals, it does not mean that you have failed. As long as you are taking action and doing something to progress toward what you want in life, you are much better than when you first started.

The key is to make progress. Thus, if you did not reach your target, simply review your goals and create a new one.

Maybe you overestimated your ability or the time frame you set wasn’t reasonable. Review your goals and set out to accomplish them again.

Action Steps: Review your results each month or every quarter. If you hit your milestones, congratulations and keep moving forward. If you fail, do a post-mortem and find out where you can improve to get better results for the next term.

Conclusion

Achieving your goals can be something challenging especially if the goals you set are high. It doesn’t matter what your goals are. The most important thing is to make it challenging and make it fun.

Follow these 7 steps above and build a fool-proof strategy to achieve the things that you want in life.

Goal Objectives- Looking Ahead To Get Ahead With Planning

With goal objectives in mind, consider the organizers of a marathon race. They take time to mark out the course. The way is planned. Otherwise reaching the finish line would be a matter of chance depending on whether a runner just happened to be in the area to see it!

Likewise reaching goal objectives requires planning.

It's important to identify obstacles and also how to acquire help.

The Steps

Make a list of possible obstacles and yet another list of knowledge, people or organizations that could help you.
Also there is a need for deadlines and the need to make another list of manageable slices or segments leading toward the main goal.
The next step involves using all the information gathered from these two previous steps.
Combine all these lists and put them in a logical order
Lay out the manageable steps in order of progression interweaving the details from your obstacles list and help list.
Get a large sketch pad and play around with the order of things until the plan begins to flow towards your goal objectives.
Acquiring knowledge for example would come before contacting people or organizations.
Once you have educated yourself a little you can ask intelligent questions and get valuable answers and leads.
Without knowledge you don't even know what you need to know to be able to ask!
Make sure your plan is not too rigid!
Otherwise any deviation from the course could spell disaster if the plan is not flexible!
So factor in room for the unexpected when moving towards your goal objectives.
If one deadline is missed it should not jeopardize the rest of the plan.
Have more than one option open at crucial stages.

The flow can then follow a different route and still arrive at the same destination and achieve your goal objectives.

Once this session is completed you now have an action plan.

The course to the finish line for your goal is set. The way is marked out.

Why The Planning Stage Is Crucial

This step is a tremendous confidence booster and it is extremely practical.

Without planning you can drop out of the race early on.

When it comes to your goal objectives, by looking ahead through planning you get ahead and stay ahead!

How to Be Successful When Success Comes Slowly

Learning how to be successful in life can be slow sometimes and it can make you feel frustrated at sluggish progress in your success journey - despite all the know-how and principles you rigorously employ.

Can success be sped up? Is there an antidote to slow outcomes despite arduous planning and actions taken? What's the secret for seeing huge results right now?

Let's get one thing straight…

When we admire someone's success, or even our own, we often focus on the end result and not so much on the effort (and time) that it took to become successful. This can cultivate unrealistic expectations, especially the idea that overnight success can happen through careful strategy and an execution of sound advice.
How to be Successful By Focusing on What IS Working

The truth be told, success typically follows a series of little events and achievements that can seem to take an eternity, that include a few disappointments along the way, and that challenge everything about you to the core - your stamina, courage, integrity, and even your willingness to keep going.

If you focus on what's not working, guess what: You're likely coming from a place of aggravation as your mind wraps around all that is wrong.

You may even have negative thoughts like, "I'm not good enough," "It will never work," or "Something must be wrong with me."

What this mentally does is engender more of these counter-productive feelings. You attract what you are feeling. So, negative experiences, people, and results will beget more negative experience, people, and results.

There's not much success in that.

The key in learning how to be successful then, is to focus on what IS working.
Practice Journaling and Meditation

In order to focus on what is working, I recommend two simple practices: journaling and meditation.

Maintaining a journal or as I like to call it, a gratitude journal is a great way to steer your attention to the positive and continually renew your vision for yourself.

Start each day with reflections on what you are grateful for in your life (list them out!) and end each day with notes on what went right (again, write them down) however small they may seem.

Spend time each day in quiet contemplation, prayer or meditation.

Learning how to meditate can be a powerful tool for arriving at solutions to problems and shifting your attitude so you can attract success sooner rather than later.

The magic of meditation is it’s ability to essentially shut down the outer layer of your judgmental, highly-critical brain and allow your unconscious mind to take over. This is where you enter a deeper state of inner peace and joy, tapping into a higher level of creativity that will help usher in the results you want.

Let's say you're doing ALL these things, but you still aren't happy with your success...

I'll ask you then, are you taking real ACTION?

You may be taking the actions you are used to taking. But, if you keep doing what you've already done, then you'll keep getting what you've always gotten. It's a matter of practicing some new behaviors. Shake things up a bit and see if you can take new actions or modify existing ones.

Every day do five specific things that take you toward your goal. Change up the five actions regularly and be open to feedback so you know when you're off course.
Success Takes Patience

Lastly, I want to remind you about patience.

It's natural to underestimate how long a certain goal can take, especially a profound one. When I set a goal to become a millionaire the year was 1983.

How long did it take? Eleven years. It took time for Chicken Soup for the Soul to hit the bestseller lists. You could say our tenure on the New York Times list was more than a decade in the making.

That's a lot of patience for someone who initially wanted overnight success.
Continue to Take Action

So, yes, patience is a virtue. But, keep at it, and in no time, you'll be only one week, or one day away from your ultimate success.

Remember... be grateful, reflect on what IS working and continue to take ACTION!

I want to leave you with a bit of homework to complete. Resolve to start a gratitude journal to begin steering your attention to the positive and continually renew your vision for yourself.

Three Steps to Live a More Powerful Life

Most of us are living below our potential. We let opportunities slip past. We don't ask for what we want. We don't give all we can. We desire more, but we don't make it happen. We are all capable of more. I know that you are capable of more. Reaching higher potential is simple but will require work and action. Here are three steps to live your life to the fullest.

First, know what you want. It sounds simple and obvious but many of us are living through our own personal zombie apocalypse. We let inertia carry us through life. So fearful of change and the unknown, we continue doing the same passionless job day after day, year after year, until much of our life has slipped by. Knowing what you want can be an intense process. Start by questioning yourself and writing everything down. What excites you? What do you despite? What makes you want to get out of bed in the morning? What keeps you in bed when you should be up? Track your thoughts and feelings for a week or two. Then read over it and look for patterns. Look for those negatives you need to eliminate from your life and start dreaming up positive alternatives.

Second, create an action plan. Once you understand what it is that you want, break it down into a number of manageable steps and objectives. Draw a path between where you are and where you are looking to go. Create a strategy that supports your goals. Understand that everyone has three budgets: Time, Energy (physical, emotional, spiritual) and Income. In the short term, these budgets are largely fixed. That is spend an extra hour doing one thing, then you are going to spend an hour less doing something else. Look for those few vital behaviors that will lead to the greatest benefit. Create daily habits around those vital behaviors. For example, getting in shape may require a daily activity habit. Growing a business will likely require a daily habit of calling potential customers. Measure your input.

Third, work your action plan. Success comes from a combination of motivation, determination and positive habits. Create an environment that will lead to success by eliminating or minimizing obstacles. Your environment and associates should make it easier to do the positive actions and more challenging to do the negative actions. Create obtainable milestones and simple habits. Enlist someone to help hold you accountable. Stop frequently and make sure you are still on track to accomplish your goal. If not, adjust as necessary.

Reaching any goal, whether it is a personal, financial, health or relationship goal, can be reached using this process. Don't make the process more complicated than these three steps and don't delay. Get started today.

Patience, Persistence, Pioneers and a Bamboo Tree

When you feel down or unable to “chase your dreams”, look for ways to motivate yourself so that you can take some action and work on those goals again. Make it a part of your weekly schedule to go online and listen to motivational speakers.

World-renowned motivational speaker, Les Brown, talked about being patient and persistent in his famous talk, It’s Possible. Notably, he gave an inspirational analogy of the Chinese bamboo tree.
The Chinese Bamboo Tree

These trees go through a long process before they fully develop. Planting a Chinese bamboo tree requires a lot of attention and it’s imperative that you water and tend to it every day. For five years, there’ll be no sign of budding. It takes that long for it to break through the ground.

But here’s what it makes it special: once it does break through, it only takes five weeks for it to grow up to 90 feet tall!

If at any time the tree was not nurtured, it would have died beneath the earth.

And that tree, as Brown said, is your dream. Your idea.

And when you’re starting up a business, think of the bamboo tree. You need a lot of patience and perseverance on days that seem fruitless. ‘’Water” your goals every day without taking a day off and just like the bamboo tree, you’ll soon see that all your hard work, patience and persistence will be rewarded. Watch that business grow!
The Importance of Patience & Persistence

As a business owner, there’ll be days when it seems like you can’t quite keep up with the competition. That’s okay, though. It’s normal.

What you need to remember is that you have to keep working every day at developing your ideas, no matter how absurd they may seem to others. If you have complete faith in your vision, then you must exert all of your energy to reap returns in the long term.

It’s rare for people to “get it right” the first time. And what’s even more scarce is having a huge success story without any sign of setbacks. Success, for anyone, doesn’t come easy. Everybody had to endure difficulties while trying to “make it.” You’ll be able to overcome the challenges if you stay true to your cause and never give up.

The following three gentlemen are personalities who did just that. They were patient, they persisted, and then they succeeded:
Sir James Dyson

He had 5,126 failed prototypes. That’s literally failing 5,126 times.

When he was still developing the now-leading vacuum brand, Dyson not only had to start over that many times, but he also had to make do with his savings for 15 years. That’s a lot of time and money.

Despite all the hardships, he persevered and relentlessly worked at his idea because he knew it was destined to be a success—he just hadn’t figured out the minor details yet. After a few more tries, it finally took off. The 5,127th prototype worked! The Dyson brand then went on to become the best-selling bag-free vacuum brand in the US. According to Forbes, Sir James Dyson is now worth a whopping $4.5 billion.

Always stay focused even if things don’t go as planned. It might just need a little tweaking and it’s best to ask colleagues for advice. Sometimes a fresh perspective is all it takes to turn a nearly-ready product into a finished one. Keep watering that idea until it blooms!
Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss)

Writers determine success by readership. They write for their material to be read. The more an author sells a book, the bigger his or her success.

Unfortunately, Dr. Seuss’ first book was turned down by 27 different publishers! And for an artiste or creative, rejection can often be deemed more personal in comparison to an entrepreneur. They invest a lot of emotion into what they do and would sometimes draw from personal experiences. Hence, any refusal of their work is partly a rejection of their personal lives.

Dr. Seuss did not tear up his book and quit, though. Where most would probably give up after the fifth rejection, he still persisted. And had he not, the world would now be deprived of legendary classics such as The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. His books eventually sold more than 600 million copies.

Sometimes, “tweaking” the idea is not anymore needed. You just have to find people who can see how valuable it can be. Unlike Dyson, Dr. Seuss had to endure the rejections of publishers rather than “rework” his creation. And after 28 publishers later, Dr. Seuss’ bamboo tree stood tall.
Soichiro Honda

It’s no wonder Honda eventually became a household name. After all, he was heavily inspired by Thomas Edison, who himself holds more than 1,000 patents and has invented some of the world’s most important products.

Honda was considered a industrial genius but had a very unique personality. He had a passion for aggressive individualism, which went against the Japanese value of teamwork, and then led to his ostracism by the Japanese business community.

Through his undeterred faith in his products and ability, Honda not only stood-out from his Japanese counterparts, but he was able to dive in the American automotive industry as well and succeed. In one year, during the development of Honda Motor Co. Ltd, Honda motorcycles outsold both Triumph and Harley-Davidson. Persistence is what made Honda become a globally recognized name and why he had been noted for pioneering a Japanese automotive revolution. Just as Dyson and Dr. Seuss, he did his best regardless of how he was perceived by others.

The two qualities that determine every entrepreneur’s success are patience and persistence. Results do not come overnight. Treat your goals like the Chinese bamboo tree. Persistently nurture your ideas and then wait patiently. Soon enough, your efforts will break through the ground. And when they do … they’ll grow as high as you imagine it would.

If You’re Not Failing, You’re Not Succeeding

Failure. It’s not a word that makes you think about good things, right?

Nobody wants to fail. But some tolerate it better than others. And some are so paralyzed by the thought of failing that they take few risks in life.

You’ve heard of Hershey’s chocolate? Of course. It’s one of the biggest candy companies in the world, with 14,800 employees and $7.1 billion in revenues.

It’s also a typical entrepreneur story: Milton Hershey started as an apprentice in a candy shop at age 14. At 18, he opened his own shop in Philadelphia. It went out of business six years later. He moved to Denver and took a job at a candy company where he learned to make caramel, then moved to New York City and opened another candy business. It also failed. At age 28, broke, he attempted yet another business. It worked. The Lancaster Caramel Company eventually became a leading U.S. maker of caramels and paved the way for the giant success of what is now The Hersey Company.

It’s evident that Milton Hershey learned from his failures and used that knowledge as he continued to strive for success.

The general public usually sees or knows only about the success. And people who wish to be successful will often study only success stories. But failure has a great value to the entrepreneur. And it’s failure’s place in your success that I want to discuss.
Emotional Education

In childhood and schooling, rather than learning from our mistakes, what we “learn” is that mistakes result in punishment: low grades, exclusion, humiliation and the rest.

We may become afraid of doing anything unless we’re absolutely sure of the outcome. But doing anything entrepreneurial means getting over that fear.

Entrepreneurs act. They have good noses for opportunity and may take off on a new venture without having to know everything about it. They “jump off the cliff and build the plane on the way down.”

People who take action and succeed make the most mistakes. They make mistakes and learn from them.

People who fear making mistakes—who have to know everything and have it all in place before they do anything—never take action.

No offense to straight-A students but often what you’re seeing when you look at one is someone who figured out how to make the least mistakes.

So, what’s the difference? The straight-A student has been educated logically, whereas the entrepreneur may also be educated logically but is most definitely educated emotionally: they know what fear is but they don’t let it stop them.
Entrepreneur Lessons

If you want to become a doctor or lawyer, there are certain, definite steps you take: You go to college. Get a degree. Go to law school or medical school. Pass the bar or complete a residency. It may not be easy but at least you don’t have to figure out the “how.” It’s a well-paved road. All you’ve got to do is walk it.

But what if you’ve got a million-dollar idea? What if you don’t want to follow the known route and become a doctor, lawyer, teacher? (All very valuable professions, by the way.)

In his book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, author T. Harv Eker gives what I think is the best definition of an entrepreneur: “a person who solves problems for people at a profit.”

Solving those problems, particularly in this high-tech world, often means bringing things into being that did not exist before. It can involve great risk. It can also lead to potentially great reward.

Few of us are raised or schooled in how to become a entrepreneurial success. There is no well-paved road. The entrepreneur paves it as he or she goes along.

The point I am driving towards is that by its nature, being an entrepreneur means there will likely be mistakes … things that don’t quite work out. You’re doing something that you’ve never done before. If you learn from your mistakes, you are one step closer to success.
The Failure Convention

How well-recognized is the value of failure in entrepreneurial business undertakings?

So much so that there is an entire convention devoted to the analysis of it.

FailCon is “a one-day conference for technology entrepreneurs, investors, developers and designers to study their own and others’ failures and prepare for success.” It was founded in San Francisco in 2009. FailCon events now occur in over a dozen cities in the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East.

Several hundred tech start-up newbies attend a FailCon to hear industry veterans talk about their worst failures, in segments with titles like “How to Build a Dysfunctional Team” and “Survive Your Fundraising Trainwrecks” and attend round-table discussions.

Interestingly, In 2014, the San Francisco FailCon was canceled. In the New York Times, Cassandra Phillipps, the founder of FailCon, said that it was partly because the idea of expecting and learning from failure had become so pervasive in Silicon Valley (a primary hotbed of start-up activity) that there wasn’t much demand for a seminar about it.

And there are companies like Fail Forward, a business consulting service that acknowledges that it’s “possible to use our inevitable failures to inspire innovation” and…become more…resilient.”

Once a taboo subject, it seems failure has come out of the business closet.
Final Thought

My point is not to celebrate failure or suggest anyone give up because failure is inevitable. Rather, it’s to show that failure is a part of the process of success.

If you’re not yet a success, it may be due to, as Cashflow Quadrants author Robert Kiyosaki observed, a failure to fail enough times.
