Improving The Quality Of Your Life One Step At A Time

Feel like your life is bankrupt sometimes? Knowing how to improve the quality of your life can't be left for chance or vague notions.

Knowing how others have improved the quality of their lifestyles is what you need. Here are 7 keys to guarantee the quality and substance of your life will get better:

1. You can't deny that all of your life hinges upon the quality of your health. Without good health, you can't maintain the lifestyle you desire, and good health doesn't stay by accident. Paying attention to your health is the starting place for improvement.

2. The way you handle finances has a direct bearing on the condition of every part of your life. Irresponsibility to money causes untold stress in every part of life. Personal money management is a must when it comes to improving your life.

3. The condition of your life is reflected by the friends you keep. You are the people you surround yourself with. Are your friends exemplifying the quality of life you desire? Chose friends wisely for the best life possible.

4. Gratitude is the unsung hero of all great people living dynamic and enhanced lives. Gratitude includes a thank you, but goes much deeper. Thankfulness for what you have is an attitude that when practiced brings life beyond your wildest expectations.

5. Simplicity is the opposite of confusion and drama. Make your life as simple as possible by deleting everything in it that you don't truly love. Take a look around your home, and decide what you truly need, and use. Discard everything else so that your life has room to expand and improve.

6. Give, give, give. Don't be tricked into thinking that giving what you have no use for will expand the quality of your life. To watch the quality of your life explode start looking around for someone in need of what you have already. Give your money, your possessions, and your time. When you give what you use and need it will come back many times over.

7. Last and not least is a plan to learn how to improve the quality of your life. Set aside an hour each week to do nothing more than think and read about methods for making your life better. This will make you conscious of what needs changing and how to change.

Getting the most out of anything always requires giving all you have, and life is no different. Make your life a long and rewarding adventure when you live it with a conscious intention to make it great.

3 Underrated Tips To Achieve Work-Life Balance

Is finding a work-life balance something that you struggle with?

The first thing to understand about work-life balance is that most people have the wrong idea of what that actually means. They think that their whole life should be balanced. That they should have a little bit of work and a little bit of play and a little bit of time on the weekends, in order to improve their quality of life.

When thinking about your quality of life, you have to ask yourself:

What do you really want to do with your life?

If the answer is that you want to be really successful in your career, you have to start a little earlier, you have to work a little harder, and you have to work a little later.
How Do You Manage Your Time?

Here’s an interesting discovery:

Almost all successful people work 6 days a week. Average people work 40, maybe even 30 hours a week. Now aside from actual time spent at work, the real problem comes down to what you accomplish while you’re at work.

Most people spend 50% of their time doing non-work related activities while they’re in the office.

Browsing social media, checking email, taking long lunch breaks, and chatting with co-workers are all examples of time-wasting behaviors. When these activities turn into habits, it becomes harder to get all of your work done in order to focus on other aspects of your life.

Here’s the key to achieving work-life balance: Choose to manage your time.

Choosing to manage your time effectively is the starting point of overcoming previous programming and eliminating mental blocks to time management. You must decide, right here and now, to become an expert in time-management in order to improve your quality of life.
Work-Life Balance Tips

Your aim should be to manage your time so well, that people admire you and look to you as a role model for their own work habits.

Here are three tips for time management that will help you achieve a work-life balance and improve your quality of life:

1) Use The Power Of Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations, or positive self-talk, are commands that you pass from your conscious mind to your subconscious mind, that you either say out loud or to yourself, with emotion and enthusiasm to drive the words into your subconscious mind.

Sort of like instructing yourself to follow new operating instructions.

Begin by repeating positive affirmations over and over to yourself, “I am excellent at time management! I am excellent at time management!” Or “I have a work-life balance!”

My favorite time management affirmation is, “I use my time well. I use my time well. I use my time well.”

When you repeat positive affirmations over and over, they are eventually accepted by your subconscious mind and you will find that your external behaviors will start to reflect your internal programming.

2) Visualize Your Time Management Skills

Mental pictures almost immediately influence your subconscious mind. Begin to see yourself as well organized, efficient, and effective in time management.

Recall and recreate memories and pictures of yourself when you were performing at your best and getting through enormous amounts of work.

Through positive affirmations, you can create a picture of the coming event and see it unfolding perfectly in every respect. See yourself as calm, positive, happy and in complete control. See the other people doing and saying exactly what you would want them to do if the situation was perfect.

Play this picture of yourself over and over again on the screen of your mind.

3) Take Action Based On Your Visualizations
Now that you have visualized and concentrated on what your day and your future will look like with proper time management, it’s time to put it into action.

Do this by working the entire time you’re at work. When you walk into the office, you should work the entire time you’re there. Be pleasant and friendly to your co-workers, but get to work right away and work until you are finished.

By doing this, you’ll get on top of your work and will walk away feeling accomplished at the end of your day. When you don’t have lingering tasks to worry about, since you’ll have worked as hard as you could have during your time in the office, you’ll be left with plenty of quality time to spend with your friends and family after work.

Three Keys To Personal Power

There are three personality powers that top leaders use to increase their personal power and influence.

Your Emotions Are Contagious
The first power you can develop is enthusiasm. The more excited you are about accomplishing something that is important to you, the more excited others will be about helping you to do it. The fact is that emotions are contagious. The more passion you have for your life and your activities, the more charisma you will possess, and the more cooperation you will gain from others. Every great man or woman has been totally committed to a noble cause and, as a result, has attracted the support and encouragement of others in many cases, thousands or millions of others.
The Key to CharismaThe second personality power that you can develop is expertise, or competence. The more knowledgeable you are perceived to be in your field, the more charisma you will have among those who respect and admire that knowledge because of the impact it can have on their lives. This is also the power of excellence, of being recognized by others as an outstanding performer in your field. Men and women who do their jobs extremely well and who are recognized for the quality of their work are those who naturally attract the help and support of others. They have charisma.
Prepare Thoroughly for Every Event
The third power of personality that gives you charisma in the eyes of others is thorough preparation, detailed preparation, prior to undertaking any significant task. Whether you are calling on a prospect, meeting with your boss, giving a public talk or making any other kind of presentation, when you are well-prepared, it becomes clear to everyone. The careers of many young people are put onto the fast track as a result of their coming to an important meeting after having done all their homework.
Get on Top of Your Subject
Whether it takes you hours or even days, if an upcoming meeting or interaction is important, take the time to get on top of your subject. Be so thoroughly prepared that nothing can faze you. Think through and consider every possibility and every ramification. Often, this effort to be fully prepared will do more to generate the respect of others than anything else you can do.
Keep Good NotesRemember that the power is always on the side of the person who has done the most preparation and has the best notes. Everything counts. Leave nothing to chance. When you do something related to your work or career, take the time to do it right the first time.
You are a work in progress. You are always growing and improving. Your job is to become the very best leader you can be, and you can – with regular and persistent practice of these personality powers.
Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action.
First, get excited about your goals and your work if you want others to be excited. Express your belief and commitment to others at every opportunity.
Second, dedicate yourself to a lifelong process of getting better and better at what you do. Prepare thoroughly for every event. Set an example in everything you do.

4 Steps to Rebuilding Your Motivation

How do you defeat the self-inflicted agony that each one of us as humans have felt at some point or another? How do you work through the pain that hurts so much to the point that we don’t want to deal with it anymore? How do you not give up?

Here’s how:

Step 1—Understand that you’re not alone and the feeling isn’t permanent.

The first step towards crawling back to taking control of your life when you’re on the verge of giving up is really just remembering that you’re not the only person who has felt hopeless, all of us understand what you’re feeling and where you’re coming from. We’ve all been there, and chances are that we’ll each be there again, so it really is kind of about understanding that it happens to everyone, and even more importantly, these moods and feelings come and go in waves. Just because you feel down and without motivation right now doesn’t mean it’ll last forever. It may be gone tomorrow, it may be gone a week from now or a month from now, but it is temporary.

Step 2—Start believing in yourself.
You have the power to let go of negative beliefs about yourself. You also have the power to create positive beliefs that will empower you rather than hinder you. The point of feeling like you want to give up comes from becoming the victim of the negativity of your own internal dialogue. You want to give up because the conversation that takes place in your head tells you you aren’t good enough, you’re not competent, you don’t have it in you, and that maybe what you’re doing isn’t worth the reward you’re expecting. These are problems that we all face as humans on a daily basis simply because our minds are neurotic; they’re negative, and we believe them.

In order to start believing in yourself, you have to stop believing what your mind says. Stop believing the negativity that plays out in your mind and start to laugh at it. You have the power to let go of negative beliefs, and at the same time create positive beliefs that are self-empowering.

Step 3—Start changing your life in ways that will reflect a change in your attitude.

You are the things that you do on a daily basis. If you want your life to change, if you want your moods to change, if your attitude to get better or your motivation to be higher, you have to begin changing your daily actions in a way that will exhibit change in your life.

For me, the way I stay motivated when I’m feeling down is by starting to do daily habits that are difficult, that challenge me and help me grow my willpower. Not only do you feel accomplished when you take on challenging habits, but you are literally strengthening your willpower.

It really is about keeping your energy levels high, and challenging yourself with difficult habits. Developing these habits will help you deal with the negativity that drains you physically, mentally and emotionally.
What are these habits?

Waking up early helps me take time to enjoy my life, and focus on the actions I know are necessary to accomplish my goals. When you become a morning person, you begin to feel empowered, accomplished, and you create time for yourself while the rest of the world is still asleep and there are no distractions.

Meditating is a very important habit that really will help you understand the negative thoughts you have. It will help you begin to separate from those thoughts with the understanding that you are not your thoughts. When you believe your negative thoughts and identify with them, you have no power, you feel horrible about yourself and you will lack motivation. Start to understand your own negativity by meditating for just a few minutes a day and you will find that your motivation levels rise instantly.

Reading is another integral habit that helps keep me motivated. I read about people who have been successful in life; people who seemingly have infinite motivation within them to do everything they set out to do. There’s nothing more motivating than learning from successful individuals who have detailed accounts about what kept them going and how they were able to stay strong in difficult times. You and I are no different and we can take lessons from successful, motivated people and implement those strategies in our own lives.

Step 4—Surround yourself with people who exhibit qualities that you want to possess.

The most important thing you need to do in order to keep yourself motivated and positive is surround yourself with people who you want to be like rather than surrounding yourself with people who are just like you. We become the people we hang out with, and I like to say that we’re an average of the 5 people we spend the most time with. If you surround yourself with people that are just like you, you will never change. But if you begin to surround yourself with motivated, positive people that are go-getters, you too will become a positive person with proper motivation who is a go getter.
Conclusion

Don’t give up. When you’re about to give up is the point where its most important to show up with strength and not give into the difficulty you’re facing. Just remember, this is temporary, you’re not alone, change is possible, and you have the strength in you to live the life you want.

5 Ways to Find Willpower When You Feel Burnt Out and Hopeless

We all experience periods in our lives when we hit a rough patch and Lady Luckno longer seems to support us. We’re left feeling crushed by life itself. Times when unexpected events have happened, often beyond our control, and it’s pushed us to our breaking point. When tough times hit, we often feel our willpower severely waning.

We feel so burnt out and devoid of energy that our viewpoint into our future starts to look bleak and hopeless. When we’ve reached this point, it’s pretty hard to find a reason to push on. But luckily, there are some ways to fight back and regain your inner power.
Here are my favorite ways on how to have willpower when you feel burnt out and hopeless:

1) Gratitude.

Sometimes, when I’m at my lowest points, when I can’t think of anything positive and life just seems completely pointless, I like to take a moment to remember everything that I do have in my life and feel grateful.

Here’s how gratefulness can help you on how to have willpower again.

Remember that:
Your gratitude list can include anything. In fact, when times are super tough and I can’t think of anything one thing to be grateful for, I remember that at least for right now, I have a roof over my head and food in my belly, that there are millions of men, women, and children around the globe who don’t have those basic life necessities available to them on a regular basis.

However, you can also be grateful for your toothbrush, Snickers bars, your pets, or your BMW. It’s your choice and your list so name whatever you want that makes you remember life has great moments – even during the darkest times.
Keep a gratitude journal near your bed. Every morning and/or night, write down a list of 5-20 things that you are grateful for during the day. In time you’ll see that you really do have a lot more to be grateful for than you ever could have imagined. It’s also really beneficial to turn to those lists when you’re feeling down about life.

You’ll remember you have a whole notebook of things that are really great in your life and that will help boost your willpower to keep moving forward.

Gratitude helps take the focus away from whatever isn’t showing up in my life and redirects me to notice what I do have that is so amazing. Using gratitude to boost your willpower can give you a new perspective on what’s really going on. It will help you feel more grounded and resilient, rather than burnt out and hopeless.

2) Volunteer

Being around others who value your service and who need your help – whether that’s the environment, animals, children or other adults in need, it’s a great way for you to feel life is hopeful, not hopeless.

Not only do you get a chance to see that others too, are going through a difficult time, but volunteering will help remind you that no matter what is going on in your life, you can still do some good in the world. What you do matters, and that you make a positive difference to others.

Remember to:
Find a volunteer position or charity that is aligned with your time and energy levels. Ask friends about where they volunteer. Maybe even try out a few before you settle on a specific one. But find one leaves you feeling energized and happy afterwards rather than sad and depleted.

While sometimes you may be witnessing a sad situation, like when I volunteered as a groomer at an animal shelter and saw many cases of abuse, it helped when I focused on how I was helping the animals transition from dirty and alone to happy, healthy and on their way to their new forever homes.
Keep searching – there are tons of volunteer opportunities out there that can fit everyone’s lifestyle, needs, and schedule. You can even find volunteering or mentoring positions that you can do online. So keep searching until you find one you really love. If you don’t see it out there, you can always start your own charity based on needs you see in your own community that aren’t yet being met.

Volunteering your time, money or expertise will get your willpower back up and running in no time as you’ll be reminded that there’s a lot more than just you on this planet and that you’re needed by others.

3) Treat Yourself!

If you have gotten to the point where your willpower is so low that you can barely get out of bed, then this is the time to start treating yourself a whole lot better! We are taught that giving is the greatest thing we can do, but if we do not stop and allow ourselves to receive, it’s possible to give until we are sucked dry.

It doesn’t need to be complicated or expensive or elaborate. Just do something for yourself that makes you feel happy. Do things like that as often as you can. The more you give to yourself, the less hopeless you’ll feel. You’ll be more able to give joyfully and abundantly to others.

Remember that:
Make treating yourself an everyday habit. The more you give to yourself, the more energy you will have, so set aside some time every day to do something kind for yourself. It doesn’t have to take up a lot of time, but it does need to help you remember that life can be and is, good.
Change it up. You don’t have to do the same nice thing for yourself every day. The more you choose to vary your treats, the more you’ll enjoy the process and the more likely you’ll be able to keep up this healthy practice of self love. The more you receive, the more you’ll be able to give.

4) Start Treating Yourself Better

Most of us are running on empty. We have too much going on in our lives. Of course, rather than letting the ball drop in any area we allow our minds, bodies, and spirits to take the brunt and then we wonder while all of a sudden we’re feeling depleted and burnt out.

When we’re short on time, energy and/or personal happiness, it’s really easy to start losing our willpower and feel hopeless. This is where daily self care comes in handy. By daily care I mean getting enough sleep to feel rejuvenated, NOT exhausted when you wake

Remember that:
If you don’t like it, use it or need it anymore, let it go. Holding on to stuff that no longer holds true value to you only weighs you down in body, mind and spirit, so for the sake of your mental and physical health it’s a good idea to purge all the negativity and waste from your life.
This exercise will lead to a great awareness of what really matters in your life – if you do it properly. It will help you realize that keeping positive people and things in your space have a great effect on how you feel and how you make decisions. Do yourself a favor and start getting rid anything negative out of your life. See how wonderful, free, and happy you start feeling.

Whether it’s going on a much needed vacation, making a quick trip to the manicurist or buying yourself a decadent brownie as a rare treat, do something that makes you feel happy and joyful. Giving too much can burn us out and leave us feeling depleted. This is why we need to give to ourselves just as much as we give to others.

up.

Practicing daily care also means choosing to eat natural, real food rather than products made with salt, sugar, and fat to help you feel good, happy, and healthy from the inside-out. Daily care also means exercising regularly so that you remain strong, healthy and limber.

Remember that:
Little steps can lead to big improvements. Even something small like going to bed at the same time every night can lead to quickly feeling happier and healthier. It’s also important to incorporate these daily care rituals into your schedule so that they become just part of your routine, rather than something you have to squeeze into your day. This will ensure you keep up the practice and actually reap and enjoy their myriad benefits.
Get support. It’s important when you are trying to make positive changes to have the right support system. Whether you hire someone, join a group or get a friend, spouse or relative to help you out, the more you’ll feel encouraged and supported in making positive changes. This makes it easier for you to maintain these changes.

If you’re thinking about how to have willpower, remember that being healthy is what will help you. Treating yourself better will push through those tough, hopeless times with much more ease and grace than you can if you’re not caring for yourself on a regular basis.

Taking care of yourself every day is essential for a happy, healthy, and productive life. You simply cannot allow caring for yourself to go by the wayside, no matter how busy you become or things will start to crumble out of your control.

5) Remove Everything in your Life that Leaves you Feeling Burnt Out and Hopeless.

There are so many decisions we have to make these days. So many choices that can lead us down a variety of different paths. It can become exhausting just trying to figure out the right path for yourself. The more decisions you have to make, the more burnt out you’ll probably feel.

Wondering how to have willpower to gain energy reserves and enjoy feeling like you’re actually in control? It’s important to let go of everything that doesn’t hold any value or meaning in your life.

Be kind to yourself, be grateful, and don’t cling to things of no value. This is how to have willpower again – despite feelings of hopelessness and exhaustion.

4 Indisputable Steps to Stop Living An Average Life

I would say that one of coolest things I loved growing up and still to this day is going to the movies. Going to the movies was always so cool not only for the experience of being in a theatre but the actual story telling of the movies there self.

Movies have a way of capturing your attention like no other. There’s always a cool, brave main character with some kind of dope ability. Whether it be super strength, metal craws, super genius or just plain old cool, the main guy always has some trait to his advantage.

The main character would always find a way to beat the odds and overcome whatever challenge to antagonist presents. Always being the one to save the damsel in distress and the goofy sidekick.

4 Steps to Stop Living An Average Life

There is one thing I never really liked about movies and that’s the way they would make me feel when I got home. When I would get home, I would slowly come back to the reality that I would never be able to do any of those things.

My logical mind would tell me to realistic and realistically I was more like the goofy sidekick.

My mind would tell me I was average and would 95% likely to be that way forever.

Somewhere deep I would feel my heart telling me that I was great and that I actually was meant for something bigger than how I was living. Eventually something would have to change…

Here are 4 indisputable steps to stop living an average life:

1. Take Back Your Power
One of the worst things you can do to yourself on this planet is allowing your power to lie in someone else’s hand. What I mean by that is so many of us grow up never making any important decision about our life until it’s time for college.

So many young people like I struggle with indecisiveness today and it’s ridiculous.

Most American children go through life with someone telling you what school you’re going to, what food you eat, what you were and every little thing in between.

By the time college rolls around your kind of just told hey pick what college you want to go to and decide what you want to do for the rest of your life.

This very same thing can lead to a road of resentment towards yourself and others around you. I would find myself blaming good people in my life whenever I would get frustrated at a situation I was in.

The thing I didn’t realise was by blaming them I was basically saying they were in control of my life and my outcomes. When in truth I was. Once I took back my blame I also took back my power in realising I have the ability to point my life in any direction I want.

Take back your responsibility for your actions and you will see a whole world of change.

That’s something you can count on.

2. Believe In Yourself

Before I elaborate I must say that I know on a shallow basis we all believe in ourselves. To be honest for most people that’s about where their self-belief powers end. We live in a society today where a lot of young people grow up not having their opinions and expressions valued by those authoritative figures in their life.

You may not think so but this very thing can have a drastic effect on the outcome of a human beings life. They grow up not valuing their own opinions and expressions as an off spring effect because that part of them was never nurtured.

If something as simple as a plant is not taken care or looked after it will die, so what about something as complex and important as one believing in one’s self? Some things speak for themselves.

Good news for us is there is a way to counteract this and it is actually simple. We have to take back the character trait of believing in ourselves. Doing this will open a whole world of possibilities you’ve never dreamed of.

Before I was able to lose my first 30 pounds my mindset was that I could never do it. As I began to believe in myself I realised I can do anything if I held that belief and plan my moves accordingly.

I guaranteed you that if you ask any person of success in any field and they will tell you they knew they would be where they are today. Stop doubting you, you’re all you have when it is all said and done.

3. Make Your Map & Follow It

To be perfectly honest I learned a lot of useless information during my school life but if I had to pick one piece of info that I should have listened to and practiced, it would be writing down your goals.

The importance of writing down goals and sticking to them is something not stressed nor shinned upon enough. Would you go on a long trip without first having known the directions? I don’t think so.

One of the most devastating things about people is they tend to think if they have an idea they can simply store it for later instead of actually bringing it to the physical by writing it down now. Most times when we don’t write things down we tend to go about are day, forget them and never come back to them.

Take the time out to sit down and figure out what you want to do, the best steps to do, and a reasonable time frame to accomplish it. Then you can break eat of those down to even smaller steps and goals.

I promise this will make your life 60% easier, seriously! The cool part is you don’t have to take super big steps in the beginning. Just the smallest moves can lead to something great if you stick with them.

When you realize the reason most people never accomplish great things is because they flat out never plan for it, the doors will open for you.

4. Crack Your Shell

Taking back your power, believing in yourself and making your map are all vital to living up to your fullest potential and getting out of mundane living.

However, this last step is one that lies at the heart of them all and that’s breaking free from your comfort area. Now we’ve all heard someone says at one time or another “you need to get out your comfort zone” but the thing is they don’t really go into the importance of it. Your brain loves to create patterns for us to follow for the simple fact it makes things easier to predict.

The thing about this is your brain does not filter between good and bad patterns, it just works with what it is given to it.

This is why it can be difficult to step out of your own perceptions and expand your horizons. When in stress of breaking your shell just remember that your plan is full proof and will work for you.

I once read a quote that said people can be measured by the amount of awkward conversations they have. It takes guts to stand up for yourself and your dreams but it is a must to reaching happiness with a side of success.

Wrapping Up

A quick tip to leaping over your boundaries is to plan ahead and set ambition but realistic liveable goals. It has to be something you really have a passion for or the next part might be a little challenging.

After you have your set target, the most important step is to believe in it. Listen to me when I tell you believing in yourself and goals are crucial on the road to a better version of you. If you can’t see your vision don’t expect anyone else to.

7 Ways to Succeed Like A Happionaire

Happy people think better, work smarter and live healthier!

Life can be either hard, sad and filled with problems or it can be easy, happy and filled with wealth and opportunities. It is our choice, what sort of life we choose.

I prefer the life of a happionaire where the power of happiness, knowledge and action bring in wealth of every sort. True success is more than just money; it is smiles, laughter, love, great health and enjoying every moment of life.

Here are five things everyone can start doing immediately to succeed like a happionaire:

1. Don’t Slog

Ever seen a rich donkey?

I know so many people who work 18 hours a day thinking, they will get what they want. We as humans are creative individuals with immense power in our mind. How we use our mind defines our success.

Our mind will not be able to think efficiently and creatively if we are slogging it out.

Look around you and you will see that the people who are really successful are the ones who are living a life of abundance and affluence, without slogging at the cost of their health, family and relationships.

As a kid, I would often hear – All Work and No Play Makes Jack a Dull Boy! Well, it doesn’t only make Jack a dull boy, but it makes Jill a bored and boring girl too! Stop slogging and start playing!

2. Laugh More

The best way to succeed at business, entrepreneurship and life is to simply laugh more.

Imagine there are two people, both selling the same product. One of them is boring, serious and always negative, while the other one is friendly, jokes around and makes you laugh.

Whose product would you buy?

Laughter makes us attractive. In fact, most successful companies and people laugh and make others laugh. Laughter diffuses tense situations, relaxes us and helps us to think better.

Laughter releases endorphins, those powerful happy hormones that make us feel good about ourselves, healthier, happier, and more creative – the key ingredients for success.

Some of my most joyful experiences, from writing bestsellers to discovering the most lucrative business ideas, have all happened thanks to this wonderful habit. Go ahead, share a laugh or a giggle and brighten someone’s day.

3. Travel

The best ideas and experiences don’t come by being stuck in an office forever. The more we travel, the more fun we have, the more we learn.

Meeting new people and being in unfamiliar situations often helps us have new ideas and insights. Uber came into being because two guys went on a holiday to Paris and got stuck in the snow without a cab.

Would they have been able to come up with Uber had they never travelled?

4. Love

Love has incredible power.

Every form of love is beautiful and helps us grow and succeed.

The special love of that girl or guy can unleash this huge creative potential that will lead to success. Love for people around you, for your customers, employers and employees will help you better understand what they want.

People will also be more helpful and receptive to you if you send out love.

5. Believe In A Higher Power

When you believe in a higher power, this incredible force in the Universe starts working for you. Things become much easier and the ball starts rolling. You meet the right people, you find the right tools and you get the right ideas.

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to have it all and make it look so easy? It is because a higher force or power is working in their favor. Once you start believing in this power, you will notice how things start falling into place.

6. Worship The Goddess of Knowledge & The Goddess of Wealth

I grew up in a spiritually inclined environment and had the benefit of learning about Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati at a very young age.

The former is symbolic of and personifies the importance of wealth, while the latter represents and highlights the essentials of knowledge. Both are equally important and we need the power and blessings of both knowledge as well as wealth to succeed.

Now, more than ever before, we have witnessed how those who invest in the right knowledge have gone on to become incredibly successful and create immense wealth.

If we look around us, we will see that most of the billionaires and some of the greatest companies that have been built in the past 10 years have been simply because of the power of knowledge.

Uber, AirBnB, Facebook, Whatsapp, LinkedIn, Twitter are all less than 10 years old and the underlying reason for their success is first and foremost knowledge, which then attracted wealth.

7. Use The Power of Karma

The Law of Karma is a universal law that works all over the world. Even in the future when we go to Mars and colonize it, the same law will still apply. The law states a very powerful fact – As we sow, so shall we reap.

Imagine you plant a seed of sweet apples and regularly take care of it, water it, tend to it and over time, the tree grows. What fruit would the tree give you? There is no way you would get a hot chili if you planted an apple seed.

The same applies to life, business and relationships. The type of thoughts and actions we put into them, we get similar results.

Imagine you are running a business, and you truly believe in helping your customers, you truly want to create wealth for your employees and shareholders, what will happen?

On the other hand, what if you are just looking to make a quick buck and don’t care if in the process you cheat your customers with substandard products or services? What will happen if you don’t care about your employees and shareholders?

Over a period of time, you will notice that the people who think and do good, always receive good. People who are thoughtful, helpful, creative and plant the right seeds get the right fruits.

We should all make sure we pay attention to The Power of Karma to do a lot more good and we will automatically be rewarded!

9 Powerful Tips to Help You Turn a Bad Day Around

“To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts.”
Henry David Thoreau

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.”
Robert Louis Stevenson

Some days are great, better than you would have expected when you rolled out of the bed in the morning.

Quite a few days are just good and OK days.

And then we have the other ones. The days that just wind up being bad.

What do you do then? I used to let them drag me down and I often wound up having not just one but a couple of bad days because of whatever happened.

Nowadays I do things a bit differently. And this week I’d like to share how I do that.

This is 9 tips and habits that help me to turn a bad day around. Most of the time I use more than one of these habits to do that.

1. Breathe.

I usually start turning my day around with shaking things up by using my body in some way.

The first thing I almost always do is to just breathe. I breathe deeply through my nose by using my belly. I focus only on the air going in and out for 1-2 minutes.

This calms my body and mind.

2. Do a power pose.

Then I sometimes follow that up by striking what Amy Cuddy calls a power pose for about 2 minutes (check out her TED talk, it’s really good).

The simplest way to strike a power pose is to stand up confidently like Wonder Woman or Superman with your legs apart, head up and your hands on your hips.

It might sound odd but it can really change how you feel in a quick and positive way.

3. Work out.

Another habit I use several times a week to shake things up by using my body is to lift free weights in my home. I do this for about 30-40 minutes and it helps me to release tensions and worry.

And after I am done I feel more powerful, focused and energetic.

4. Hug.

Just by hugging someone quickly you can feel safer and more optimistic again. And an embrace that lasts 30 seconds or a minute or more can recharge your your batteries and release an unexpectedly large amount of stress and tensions.

5. Pet an animal.

If I don’t have anyone close by to hug during a bad day I usually just pet our cat for a few minutes. It has a very similar calming and stress reliving effect.

And it makes him very happy and that in turn boosts my mood.

6. Find a new viewpoint.

The body tips above often work well to change my perspective by altering my emotional state and energy level.

Sometimes something more is needed though.

So I start looking more actively for a better and more helpful viewpoint by asking myself a couple of questions.

Three of my most commonly used questions that help me with that are:
Will this matter 5 years from now?
Who cares?
What is one small action, one small and practical step I can take to start turning this day or situation around?

7. Go out into nature and enjoy the spring.

Leave your couch or workspace for a little while. Talk a walk and just soak in the spring sun and warmth. Enjoy the birds singing and the nature starting to blossom after the cold winter.

Just being out there in nature tends to make it easier to think optimistically again and to start looking for practical solutions or upsides. Or you can simply be there in the moment fully and let your thoughts about for example work rest for a while (and then later on you can return to that with fresh eyes and a calmer mind).

Another upside is that the sunshine and exercise during this 20-30 minute pause in my day also recharges my energy.

8. Accept what is.

One thing that sometimes work better than just about anything is simply to accept what is at this moment.

To not deny or try to push away negative feelings or thoughts that show up. Even though you may feel an impulse to do so.

Instead, just accept what is right now. The thoughts and feelings within you. And just be with them fully and observe them flowing through you.

By doing so you are not giving up.

No, because when you accept what is then you stop feeding the negative thoughts in your mind with more energy. And so they become weaker.

They start to lose their grip on you after a while and then they float away. And so you feel more open and are able to think more clearly again.

9. Remember: sometimes a bad day will just be a bad day.

Now, from time to time, even if you use several of the techniques above – one after the other – you won’t be able to turn a bad day around. That has been my experience at least.

Because no matter what habits you adopt, life will never be perfect, positive or awesome all the time.

And this website was never about living some kind of life that only exists in a perfect dream anyway.

This website is about replacing unhelpful habits with better ones. It is about raising the percentages of times where you can handle things in a better way. In your regular, everyday life. And when bigger things happen.

Because that will make a huge difference.

But still, life will have natural valleys.

And a bad day will sometimes just be a bad day. And that’s OK. That’s life.

But the interesting thing is this: if you accept that life is like this sometimes – and let go of the dream of perfection – then you’ll create less suffering for yourself and life will become lighter, simpler and happier.

So in the long run there is an upside even to a bad day that you may not be able to turn around.

6 Great Techniques for Staying Focused At Work

Do you struggle to focus while you work?

How often does it happen when you’ve been sitting at your desk for hours only to look back when the day is over and feel like you’ve accomplished nothing?

Or maybe you’re trying to work on something only to constantly be interrupted by email notifications, your smart phone beeping, or yet another interruption by a team member.

6 Techniques for Staying Focused At Work

Every day feels like a never-ending battle to keep your attention on what’s important, but more often than not distraction is winning the day.

This is a shame.

Because in many ways what we choose to focus on is the most valuable resource we have. We should treat it accordingly.

The good news is that if you set things up to maximize your focus, you’ll be able to get more done in any given day than you ever imagined. Below are 6 great ways to develop laser-like focus while you work:

1. Build Your “Focus Muscles” Like a Weightlifter

The same principle that weightlifters use to get stronger can also be used to develop your ability to focus. The only way for a weight lifter to get stronger is to stimulate his or her muscles with more and more weight. If not, the person’s strength will stagnate.

Studies show that we only have the ability to do a maximum of four or five hours of focused work per day. This is what we should aspire to work up to. However, just like a weightlifter’s strength does not come overnight, you slowly work up to your four or five hours per day of focused work.

When starting to build your focus muscles, doing an hour of focused work is a good starting point. But start at whatever point would be a challenge for you but still doable. So if an hour is too much start with 15 minutes and build from there.

2. Work In Focused Blocks of Time

Tony Schwartz and Jim Loehr helped popularize the idea of “periodization” for entrepreneurs in their book, the Power of Full Engagement. Periodization in this context means we should work in a series of focused “sprints” throughout the day followed by periods of recovery.

A popular application of this strategy is the Pomodoro Technique, which advises us to work in a 25-minute burst followed by a 5-minute break. This 30-minute block is known as a “Pomodoro session.”

After four Pomodoro sessions you would then take a longer break.

My personal preference is to work for longer focused session of around 55 to 60 minutes followed by a 10-minute break (I use a kitchen timer to time my sessions). Experiment and see what works best for you.

3. Have a “Break Ritual”

Have you ever planned on having a quick 5-minute break to check something on the Internet only to come back from an “Internet black hole” 45-minutes later and have no recollection of what you just looked at?

You’re not alone.

Many well-meaning entrepreneurs struggle to stay focused because they don’t manage their breaks properly.

In addition to spending too much time surfing the Internet and checking our smart phones during our breaks, other culprits include getting distracted on long eating breaks and taking too much time talking to our friends and colleagues.

So how to fight against these ‘time robbers’?

By implementing a “break ritual.”

This means you’ll decide ahead of time exactly what you’re going to do during your breaks. I highly recommend you stay away from technology during these break rituals.

In fact, my preferred ritual is to “just sit there.”

Meaning after my timer goes off I’ll simply walk to the room next to me and sit down and relax for 10 minutes. No checking email, no looking at text messages, nothing. I find this is a great way to relax and clear my mind.

Another benefit: the 10 minutes seem to go by much slower than before when I would get lost in Internet-land during breaks. Other good things you can do during break rituals include stretching and going for a walk.

4. Schedule Your Distraction Time

In his book Deep Work, Georgetown University professor and MIT graduate Cal Newport presents the novel idea that instead of scheduling breaks from distraction to focus, we should schedule breaks from focus to distraction.

Meaning we should block out specific times when we’ll allow ourselves to check our smart phones and emails, but we should avoid these distractions at all other times.

We want to make not being distracted our “default” state.

This is one of the true secrets or “hacks” to being more productive. Numerous scientific studies show that the constant switching between stimuli has a negative effect on our ability to focus. When we force ourselves not to do this, we take our “attention power” back, which makes focusing much easier.

To do this, we need to schedule our “distraction sessions” into every work day. Preferably later in the day to allow time for us to get our focused work done earlier. It is during these distraction sessions where you can check email, your smart phone and your favorite social media sites (if you really have to).

5. Manage Your Energy For Maximum Focus

Managing your energy is one of the best ways to improve your ability to focus. We do this primarily through proper diet and exercise. A diet designed for productivity will not only give you the energy you need to stay focused throughout the day but will also give your brain a boost.

The keys to a productive diet are:
Eat plenty of healthy fats (including avocados, fatty fishes and nuts).
Eat plenty of greens (including leafy green vegetables like kale and spinach and broccoli)
Stay away from all processed sugars.

Similar to diet, exercise not only will give you energy throughout the day, it’s also been shown to improve brain function as well. And what type of exercise you do is much less important than the fact that you do exercise at all.

At a minimum, you’ll want to engage in 20-minutes of moderate exercise at least three times per week. But also look for opportunities to move your body whenever possible: take the stairs, park your car a little farther when you go to the store, carry a hand basket at the grocery store instead of pushing a cart around if you can. All of these things make a difference for both your energy levels and your health.
6. The 3,515 Year-Old Secret For Improving Mental Focus

Did you know that one of the most amazing “hacks” for improving your mental focus has been around for over 3,500 years?

What’s more, this secret is completely free and can do wonders to improve your focus in as little as five minutes a day.

I’m talking about meditation.

Meditation has been called a “mental workout” for your mind and that’s exactly what it is. We talked above about building your “focus muscles” while you work. Think of meditation as a way to further train your focus muscles so you really “stretch” them during work time.

Many top running coaches have their athletes train their legs with weights in addition to their strenuous running workouts to prepare them for their races. Think of meditation as “weight training” that will help you perform even better at the race that happens everyday at work.

A great way to get started with meditation is to sit comfortably and simply focus on your breath: take a slow deep breath through your nose and say the word “in” to yourself while you do this. Then slowly exhale while silently saying the word “out.”

Repeat this for five minutes. Once you can do that, slowly build up to 10 then 20-minute meditation sessions.

Summary

To summarize, we just covered six great ways to develop laser-like focus while you work:
Building your focus muscles
Working in focused blocks
Having a break ritual
Taking breaks from focus
Managing your energy
Meditating

If you implement these strategies one by one, your days of struggling to focus and get things done will be over forever.

How to Find Willpower When You’re Running On Empty

Have you ever tried to notice and track acts of will that you perform throughout your day?

That time when you decide to reject the offer of cigarette that comes from your friend. Maybe that morning you finally took yourself for a work-out routine.

Where do such acts come from?

Why in some cases are you resistant to any kind of temptations and just do what is right/logical/useful while in other cases you just can’t stand up to the seduction?

How to Find Willpower When It’s Running Out

Is there a limited resource of willpower for each of us?

And, if it’s true, can we somehow increase it or should we just stick with it like that chewing gum that has stuck to our shoe sole on the way to work. We can take time and fix that, but we have work to do and we are in a hurry.

Flexing The Muscle

“WILLPOWER IS LIKE A MUSCLE: IT NEEDS TO BE CHALLENGED TO BUILD ITSELF.” – MARTIN GINIS

If neuroscience has taught us something about our brain lately – it’s that it is no different than any other muscle in our body (except it’s unimaginably complex!).

If you have ever been to gym – you know how it works. Weak muscles won’t let you lift decent weights, the same thing basically happens to your brain when it is required to show some willpower.

There is a part of the brain called the prefrontal cortex, it is located just behind your forehead and it’s believed to be responsible for behavior regulation and decision-making.

In easy words, that part of your brain is literally the willpower mission control center, and when you can’t handle the desire to eat one more sausage you know what is it to blame.

But how that does that help?

Well, knowing how an engine works gives you an opportunity to tweak and upgrade it.

According to Kelly McGonigal, Stanford University PhD, and author of The Willpower Instinct, the pre-frontal cortex is like a child that needs to be looked after.

You have to be responsible and fully involved in order to raise it properly, so you won’t feel embarrassed for it. There are things you can do to improve the pre-frontal cortex. Following them will literally increase it by consolidating grey matter around it.

As a result, you will gain a power to control over your desires and to act upon the interest of usefulness and healthiness. Instead of receiving a short-term sense of satisfaction. The basic recommendation break-down is:

1. Sleep well.
It is a well-known fact. Your whole organism restores and gathers power while sleeping and willpower is no different. You are very vulnerable to bad habits and other possible threats when you didn’t get enough sleep.

2. Eat well.

Digestion of proper food will supply your brain with necessary vitamins and minerals. Food is a fuel so be sure to keep the tank properly filled.

3. Exercise.

Physical exercises are proven not only to increase your body condition, but weekly exercise activities are experimentally proven to be a boost to your willpower as well.

4. Meditate.

Just a simple 10-minute breath meditation daily routine has proven to improve your body and mind on a many different levels. From improving your focus level to helping your sleep better, meditation has become a powerful tool to anyone seeking to increase their willpower reserve.

Following basic guidelines will definitely boost your self-awareness and the willpower itself. But what do you do when you seem to be out of the resource?

In Search Of A Willpower Boost Pack

Remember what we talked about earlier? About the comparison of our brain to muscles. Now that we know, it seems clear that we can “work out” and get our brain to consolidate the willpower at the times when it is most needed.

We just need to keep practising and pushing it to the limit.

Well, the truth is, it’s not quite right. The resource of your willpower is never unlimited. Especially on your first steps of mastering your willpower, you can easily find yourself in the situation when you are just out of it.

Once you learned how exactly your mind works when you are eating that caramel cake or passing a gym class you would need to learn how to force yourself doing the right thing.

But the problem is that you might face numerous situations throughout your day that would require you to challenge your power of will in order to motivate yourself.

If you’ll be too hard on that, you might just pass one through. You would think – I woke up early, I am not smoking for three weeks now and I laid out on a training today. So this sweet dessert after supper won’t cross out all my achievements.

And you’re right. You can’t be all-focused and determined non-stop 24/7. In this case, one day you would just have to give it a rest in order to release the tension that is tangling you.

So What Do We Do?

In order to avoid that, you need to carefully examine the level of your willpower. Evaluate how much is left in your willpower bank. That would enable you to plan your decisions and actions ahead of the challenges you face.

Becoming aware of the level of willpower you have gives you a chance to avoid seductions and temptations you might face later. For example, if you know that just can’t fight that social media feed checking habit, maybe you could try leaving the phone somewhere not near your workplace.

The other recommendation I would give is an obvious one, though it is also one of the hardest.

Once you have started working on improving your power of will, never let it go. Keep the focus and determination to fight your nasty habits for quite some time. Until you’ve worked out the manner to deal with them.

For example, at some point of my life I had a serious sleep deprivation problem. It was doing severe damage to my personal and professional life, so I had to do something about it.

Amongst all the solutions I tried, meditation was something that really worked, though I had to wait more than a month to see that. But, at some point, my sleep problems were just gone.

Everything went back to normal. And when everything is normal there is no need to make additional efforts to keep it that way, I thought. So I stopped meditating just to see that the problem came back.

That’s when I realized that I should always be focused and determined to steer my life in the right direction.

Drawing The Bottom Line

There is always a way to go when it comes to self-improvement, for all of us. Willpower is the most effective tool on the forefront of our personal growth and development.

While there are literal ways of improving your willpower, you should never forget that there is a resource that you are spending, especially on your first steps of mastering the power of will.

8 Simple Tips for Increasing Your Luck in Life

Luck is described by definition as “the things that happen to a person because of chance; the accidental way things happen without being planned.” So speaking in the strictest technical terms, there’s really nothing you can do to change your luck.

But that doesn’t stop most of us from trying!

Whether you believe in the power of changing your own fortune, you’re superstitious, or you simply take a different view on what exactly constitutes luck, odds are you’ve tried at one point or another to influence what happens to you seemingly by chance.

8 Tips for Increasing Your Luck in Life

Ultimately, arguing whether or not it can truly be done won’t get anyone anywhere.

Here are some simple tips for successfully increasing your luck in life.

1) Avoid Discouragement

One of the simplest keys to facilitating good luck is not to succumb to discouragement due to bad luck.

Move Me Quotes is a wonderful place to look for people who like to find inspiration and new perspectives from famous figures. And at that site, a list of quotes for positive thinking has a few different selections that speak to this idea of avoiding discouragement.

Perhaps best among them is John Wooden’s wise, almost Yogi Berra-esque quote:“Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.”

In other words, if you strive to make the most of a situation, even if it’s not an ideal one, you tend to increase the odds of things working out well in the long run. This is certainly one way to look at luck.

2) Collect Friends & Allies
Not all luck has to do with other people, but a great deal of what we’d call good fortune in life really comes down to good favours from good friends.

This is not to say that you should look to network your whole life simply to build up group of acquaintances who might one day facilitate “luck” when you need it most.

But by making and maintaining friendships, being kind to family members, neighbours and colleagues, etc., you can certainly put yourself in a better position to receive help if and when you need it one day.

Whether or not you call it luck is up to you, but the fact remains that receiving assistance from a friend in a time of need is better than the alternative!

3) Always Throw Your Hat In The Ring
The idea here is that if you don’t at least give yourself the opportunity to get lucky, you definitely won’t get lucky.

This is arguably the most significant thing to keep in mind in attempting to improve your fortunes—so much so that it’s even mentioned with regard to activities with notoriously long odds for luck.

At Lottoland, an online source for various online lotteries, there are a few different magazine articles that have been written about how to improve your shot at winning a lottery. One such article talks about odds and ends while referencing the famous Norman Vincent Peale quote, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss you’ll land among the stars.”

The idea there is that by aiming for a jackpot (the moon) you can sometimes also put yourself in the running for smaller prizes (the stars). The same principle holds up pretty consistently as a metaphor for everyday life.

4) Keep Your Eyes Open

This one is straightforward: a lot of people with optimistic outlooks and “lucky” histories will tell you that one of the keys to good fortune is seizing good luck when it’s available. Sometimes a lucky turn is right in front of us, and we’re either unable or unwilling to see it.

5) Face Your Fears

“Fortune favours the bold” is a common saying, and some may view it as a relatively hollow one. Yet when you think about it as a psychological perspective rather than a recipe for good fortune, it begins to make a lot more sense.

Inc. took on this topic in a piece on different ways to actually increase your luck, and clarified that the idea of fortune favouring the bold largely comes down to the idea of facing our fears. When you take on a task that scares you or makes you apprehensive, you may not be any likelier to fully succeed.

But because you were apprehensive to begin with, you’re more likely to view any degree of success as a lucky outcome.

6) Prepare For Optimism

Many would argue that the foundation of good luck is an optimistic outlook.

In other words, people who are inclined to be optimistic are simply more likely to view a given event or outcome as a bit of good fortune, rather than something neutral. So it’s possible that the best way to position yourself for good luck is to practice optimism.

This could mean anything from getting more sleep and focusing on personal well-being, to trying to be kinder and more enthusiastic.

7) Believe In Routine

Superstition is closely related to the belief in luck, but it usually just comes down to routine.

To get an idea of just how important this is to some very successful people, just take a look through this list of superstitious athletes including Michael Jordan, Wade Boggs, and Serena Williams.

Williams in particular goes about her business on the tennis court according to an extremely strict routine of little things, such as how many times to bounce a ball before a serve.

She’s mentioned slipping up on this routine as a reason for some of her losses over the years, and whether or not that’s the case it’s easy to see the psychology of it. When you believe in routine to this extent, sticking to it can make you feel lined up for luck.

8) Trust The Little Voice

A lot of discussions about luck ultimately come down to the idea of trusting your gut.

To some extent, this lines up with the idea of facing fears and being bold; often it’s the gut instinct that wants to be bold, and the reasonable mind that prevails and encourages more conservative action.

Aside from the idea of just being bold, the idea here is to trust your gut, or listen to the little voice inside your head that tells you, before you even have a chance to think about it, what the right decision is. Instinct is a valuable ally, and one that can often lead you down a path of good fortune.

There are still no guarantees for luck in life. If there were, we wouldn’t call it luck! But by paying attention to these tips and enacting the suggestions in your day-to-day life, you may find that you stumble across a little bit more luck in the future.

I Have the Power to Change Myself

Challenges are regular visitors in our life, and nobody is immune to them. They can either make you lose hope, and even give up, or we can use these challenges to make positive changes in our life.

For instance:

Develop your passion

Having a passion for something, will motivate you towards achieving your goals. When setting your goals, you always want to be passionate about those goals, because if you love what you do, you will be driven by the desire to achieve success. This will go a long way towards reaching your dreams.

Believe in yourself

To believe in yourself is a prerequisite for success. When you have doubts, or negative feelings about yourself, you are sabotaging your progress. Instead you want to see yourself as a winner, and believe in yourself. Feeding your mind with positives, will reinforce your beliefs, and sweep any doubts out of your system.

Track your progress.

It is important that you take note of every improvement you make. This will motivate you to work even harder. Every step forward will give you a boost, and accelerate your efforts to the achievement of your ultimate goal. Learn how to control your emotions. It is important that you use your emotional intelligence, when you encounter problems in your life. You are a product of your thoughts and feelings, and any negative emotions that crop up, can negate the positive forward movement you enjoyed earlier. Approach any challenge with a positive outlook, which will help toward a quick, and positive resolution. You have all the tools you need, in order to make positive changes in your life. The potential for your life is absolutely staggering. The possibilities in front of you go way beyond anything you ever dreamed of. And the best part is, you are in control. It is in your hands to make the changes necessary, to take your life to new heights.

This statement is a perfect description about friendship. While all friends can buy you drinks, drive you home, and/or spoil you in any other way, only the best of them will help you to realize the awesome potential within you. It is only the best among them that can push you to achieve you full potential. It is only the best friend, who is able to give you the confidence to see your capabilities, and help you harness them, in order to set, and reach your lofty goals. It is not surprising, that such an expressive quote came from Henry Ford. Henry Ford is a legend in the automotive industry. The companies he set up continue to thrive, and are enjoying exponential growth. He himself was a remarkable success. To be, where he was, he must have experienced the upsides of many good friendships. Good friends, who spurred him on to become the success as we know it.

As you might have realized already, the path to success is often paved with frustrations and discouragements. Best friends come in, when you experience bout after bout of disappointments. They help you see the big picture, and encourage you to rise from momentary failures, and feelings of disillusionment. True friends will always be there when you need them. The best friendships begin when one person chooses to give unconditionally, when a person chooses to care. It is true, you will often come across individuals, who are ever ready to receive whatever you choose to give, without necessarily giving much back, if anything at all.
