5 Techniques To Build More Confidence

5 Techniques to be More Confident

Being confident in life not only enhances your personality, but makes sure you don't lose opportunities because of hesitation. Enough confidence in you can be the difference between success and failure. When you are striking a new business deal, giving an interview or asking someone on a date, you need to be confident.

The key to being more confident is how other people perceive you on the basis of your own self-perception. Basically, this means if you consider yourself to be capable and energetic, it will be reflected in your thoughts and actions. Thus, other people will also see you the same.

Although there are many factors beyond control, there are still certain things you can turn in your favor to make yourself more confident. In this post, we have talked about some simple tips, which can help you become more confident in life.

Visualization & Positive Affirmations

Contrary to the common notion, the concept of positive affirmations is neither complex nor complicated. Positive affirmations are simple sentences, which you can use to explain how you want to feel in life, what situations and circumstances you consider perfect, and other such expectations. You need to say positive affirmations out loud in a way that affirms what you're saying is true.

According to psychologists, positive affirmations help you build more confidence in life. With positive affirmations, you can change the way you feel about your personality, nature and characteristics. In addition to this, positive affirmations can change your basic perception about various circumstances surrounding yourself. It's worth mentioning that positive affirmations can lead you on a path toward success and achieving your goals. You can use positive affirmations like:

I'm Feeling Confident.

I Can Become More Confident.

I Will Live With More Determination.

I Will Be More Confident

When you start using positive affirmations on a regular basis, it isn't long before you start believing in them. They can boost your confidence, and help you become an outgoing person. You can also use visualizations to become more confident. As the name suggests, this practice requires you to visualize what you want to accomplish in life. In this case, you should visualize yourself confidently speaking in public or making a presentation in office.

Active Participation

At times, you may hide behind someone during an open discussion. It is important to actively participate in every discussion and event. In time, you will be able to overcome your hesitation. Your issues related to fear of public speaking or participation will not get resolved until you make efforts. Public speaking and active participation always contribute to gaining confidence.

Leave Your Comfort Zone

Almost every person prefers to live in his comfort zone. However, when you step outside the comfort zone, you're able to gain more exposure. When you stay within it, you start shrinking. You need to avoid getting trapped into the confines of your comfort zone, and constantly push yourself to do different things. This helps you become more confident.

Meditation

Meditation not only keeps you calm, but also helps you with composure. When you're calm and relaxed, you start making good decisions. This has a major impact on your confidence. Meditation also allows you to gain some insight about your personality, and mould yourself accordingly to overcome anxiety and shyness.

Practice Confidence

Just like everything else in your life, even confidence improves with regular practice. When you meet new people, it's a great opportunity to build confidence. When you shake someone's hand for the first time, you should introduce yourself, watch the other person's tone and learn more about his or her personality. Since a new person doesn't know anything about you, it's an opportunity to show the person your confident personality.

In addition to this, you should watch your tone and posture. Mumbling and hunching can make you look and feel less confident. Thus, you should speak clearly, slowly and stand straight. When people see your confidence, it gives you more reason to keep working on building confidence.

These were some effective tips to become more confident in life. Besides this, you also need to exercise regularly. It will help you get in good shape, keep your mind sharp and give you more energy. Confidence is the key to success in life. Thus, you need to make efforts to become more confident and focused.

With these simple techniques, you will be on your way to developing more self-confidence.

What Are the Key Traits of Mentally Strong People?

For past few years, I have devoted each and every day of my life to reach closer to the below mentioned goals, which I think are the core aspect of being mentally strong.
Be like the Joker.

Do you remember Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson playing the role of this iconic villain. His sole aim in life was to create anarchy and spread chaos. The key word here is SOLE. Monomaniacal, bloody minded, ruthless focus on a solitary goal is often the single most important quality of mentally strong people.
Focus on basics first and only then details.

A person was caught after many years of successful robberies and theft. When asked why was he so successful in committing these crimes, he replied, ’I always go where the money is.’ Mentally tough people stay focused on developing the essential skills. Never drifting aloof or beating around the bush. But coming directly to the point. No point in learning about how many years ago did frogs arrive on earth, if you don’t know the definition of evolution. Got what I am saying?
Don’t control what you can’t.

They never waste time, energy and resources in factors which are simply beyond their control or are extremely unpredictable.
Rejoicing success of others

Getting motivated from success of other people, without any resentment or hatred. They constantly learn from such events, in turn increasing their probability of being successful.
Embracing solitude.

Enjoying one’s company. Never fearing being left alone by everyone else. Though they may be alone, they are never lonely.
Vicarious learning.

Learning from mistakes of others, facing similar circumstances. You won’t live long enough to make all the mistakes by yourself nor can you afford to make the same mistakes again and again. So, learn from as many sources as possible and learn fast.
No dwelling on the glorious (or pathetic) past and never afraid of CHANGE.

Remember Ganguly before retirement or Yuvraj, Sehwag in current IPL. Their selection was solely based on their past records. Such reputation doesn’t mean anything to mentally strong people. Aussies success of playing 7/11 World Cup finals, is the result of their sheer mental strength and respect for current form and not past reputation.
Always in control.

Having all the power with themselves, without devolving it to anyone else. Means that being in charge all the time. And not being made vulnerable by others.
Delayed gratification: Doing the hard thing, without expecting immediate success.

They are also faced by multiple alternatives, which give them instantaneous pleasure and a kick of hedonism. But they constantly fight against this urge to give in, and they keep pushing forward.
Maximum overlap between reality and perception of reality.

Neither being pessimistic nor optimistic. Always being pragmatist and realist. It is very easy to be carried away by what ought to be than what is. Knowing what is real, how our world actually works and aligning your thought process with that, is a hallmark of being mentally strong.

I missed so many qualities as it was specifically asked to mention 10. Please comment below what you think are essential ingredients of being a mentally strong individual. Will compile all of them and share it on numerous social media platforms.

The Power of Habit

Aristotle once said, "we are what we repeatedly do" and this shows the power of habit. If we are repeatedly doing things that lead to greater success, then we will be successful but if we are repeatedly doing things that hinder our success then we will not get what we want in life.

Create a Habits List

Before creating a to do list think about creating a 'habits list', this is a list of the habits you want to create and a tracker to help you track those habits. Let's say for example that it is your goal to lose weight. In order to lose weight you need to exercise regularly and so onto your habit tracker you would put exercise and then each day that you exercise you would tick off that item on your habit tracker and know that you have taken a step closer to your goal. If you just had to exercise once though it wouldn't be much help so you need to make a habit of exercising at least three times a week.

How Long Does It Take to Form a Habit?

Some people say 21 days, others say you should aim for three times that amount. Personally, I think it is better to aim for three times that amount because if you give yourself a break too early then you may find that the habit is easily broken and it is too easy to fall back into bad habits. By challenging yourself to practice this habit for longer you are ensuring that it becomes a part of your life and you are less likely to give it up as it becomes part of you.

Breaking Bad Habits

In addition to creating good habits, if you want to really achieve success then you also need to break bad habits that are hindering you from becoming all you can be. Let's go back to the weight loss example and say you have a habit of getting take-aways for dinner every night. If you want to lose weight then exercising in itself is not going to be enough, you need to learn to develop healthier eating habits and that means breaking the bad habit of getting take-aways all the time. Learn how to do meal preparation and plan healthy foods that will promote weight loss.

"We are what we repeatedly do" and so we need to create habits that are going to help us achieve success. It is not enough to simply do something once and hope it will bring you success, you need to do it repeatedly. Create habits that will help you become the person you want to be.

Dream Big: Live Your Life Without Limits

The basic rule for success is for you to continue to remind yourself that you are where you are, and what you are because of yourself. You are in your current situation because you have decided to be there. You have made the individual choices and decisions that have gotten you to your current place in life. If you want to go somewhere else or be someone else, it is totally up to you to make the choices and decisions today that will eventually get you there. And there are no limits.
Positive Thinking Will Change Your Life

Here is another rule: “If you want your life to get better, you have to get better.” This simply means that your outer world will be a reflection of your inner world. If you want your outer world to improve, you must go to work on improving your inner world.

If you want to have better customers and more sales, you must become a better and more personable salesperson. If you want to have better employees, you must become a better manager. If you want to have better children, you must become a better parent. And if you want to have better relationships, you must become a better person. The great tragedy is that the world is full of people who are trying to change the outside world without going to work on the one thing that they can control, their own thinking!
Change Your Thinking

Here is another rule: “If you change the quality of your thinking, you change the quality of your life.” And since you can change the quality of your thinking almost infinitely, there are no limits on how you can change and improve every part of your life, in any direction you want to go.

There is a lot of talk today about “positive thinking,” and I think that positive thinking is very important. It is much better for you to think positively about yourself and your possibilities than for you to think negatively. But the danger is that positive thinking can quickly turn into positive wishing and hoping. Positive wishing and hoping can turn a person into a very optimistic and happy failure. Abraham Mallow said that the story of the human race is the story of men and women selling themselves short, and settling for far less than that for which they are capable. Don’t let this happen to you.
The Power Of Positive Knowing

What is better than positive thinking is “positive knowing.” This is where you take the steps and do the things that bring you to the point where you absolutely know, with complete certainty, that you can achieve your goals and be the kind of success that it is possible for you to be. When you reach the point of positive knowing, no matter what happens in the outside world, even if you lose everything you have acquired, you will make it all back again, and more, because you know how to do it in the first place.

I want to share some ideas with you that have been very helpful to me and to many thousands of other highly successful men and women. These are all ways of thinking and looking at your world that will enable you to become a far more optimistic, confident, and creative individual in everything you do. These are simple, powerful, proven techniques that you can use to throw off your self-imposed limits and begin moving toward the realization of your full potential.
Dream Big, You Have No Limits

The starting point of great success and achievement has always been the same. It is for you to, “dream big dreams.” There is nothing more important, and nothing that works faster than for you to cast off your own limitations and begin dreaming and fantasizing about the wonderful things that you can become and have and do.

A wise man once said, ” You must dream big dreams for only big dreams have the power to move the minds of men.” When you begin to dream big dreams, your level of self-esteem and self-confidence will increase immediately. Your self-image improves. You feel more positivel about yourself and your ability to deal with whatever happens to you. The reason so many people accomplish so little is because they never allow themselves to let go and just imagine the kind of life that is possible for them.

Dream, Believe, Achieve

Dream.

Dreaming is for everyone; for you and for me. There aren't any age restrictions; you are never too old or too young to dream. There aren't any limitations; it's never too late or too early to dream. Dreaming keeps you going; it is something that you are looking forward to reach, each and every day, someday. Your status, gender and age don't restrict you from dreaming more. It doesn't matter if it's simple or extravagant, big or small, a dream is a dream. It is everyone's right to have one; yours and mine, and no one has the right to judge someone regarding their ambitions in life. Dreams make every sole individual's core being; your core being, the fulfilment of it is everyone's goal in life; your goal in life. Every day everyone strives and works hard to reach these dreams, including you. There might be some instances wherein you face some hindrances but don't ever let anyone or anything delay you or stop you from grabbing hold of your dreams.

Believe.

They say it's hard to believe, to trust, and to remain loyal to something, wherein you have invested all your effort and time, and still nothing happens. But you have to keep in mind that for something to actually happen you have to acquire the right amount of effort, time and the most important of all, patience. Like for example you want to change your life, you want to earn more money, these scenarios don't happen in a flash nor overnight, it takes time to do this; do you think Bill Gates became the richest man in the world right after creating Windows? No he didn't. He worked hard and believed in himself that he can do it, that's why he is where he is right now. Don't ever say that you have done everything that you have given everything and you have nothing left. Nothing is never enough, before saying that you have had enough, ask yourself first, 'Have I really given everything I have? Am I really giving up now when I have already put so much effort in it?' If you answered 'No', then don't stop, continue to give more and believe in yourself that you can do it, be confident and trust yourself. Don't let anyone or anything push you down, walk over you and intimidate you. No one is ever better than anyone. Believe in what you can do, not what just other people tell you what you can do. Do not let other people limit your abilities. You know yourself better than them, don't listen to what they say instead listen to yourself, your inner self, start believing.

Achieve.

Everyone wants to achieve their dreams and goals in life, who doesn't anyway? But in order to achieve anything and everything you want, you have to possess the right attitude. Even if you have all the abilities in the world, without the right attitude, you are going nowhere. You may be able to achieve what you want but with just a matter of time you'll lose it. Once you achieve your dreams and goals in life, always keep your feet on the ground, never look down on others, bear in mind that you were once in their shoes. Don't ever forget where you came from and remember the people who helped you in reaching and achieving your dreams.

Keep dreaming. Keep believing. It might take a little while to get what you want but when you achieve it, every single drop of sweat, endless effort and time will be wiped away by the happiness and fulfillment it brings and for sure you will say to yourself, 'It was worth it!'

How To Use Positive Re-framing To Turn Things Around

When it comes to being positive and optimistic, it's easy to be reminded of the old adage of whether you see the glass as half empty or half full. This cliché is used more often or not to show how the same situation may be looked at either positively or negatively.

One tool that is often used to help people begin to think more positively or to become more optimistic is called positive re-framing.

Re-framing basically means that you take a situation that could be deemed negative and turning that experience into one that is a more objective, positive and empowering manner.

There are plenty of examples of how you can use positive re-framing.

Let's say that you are working at a new job and you want to make a good impression.

However, on your first day you send out an email that is only supposed to go to your supervisor, but instead it is sent to all of your co-workers. This email happens to contain some personal information about your current financial situation and is rather embarrassing.

So what can you do about this blunder? There are several ways that you can handle this situation.

A positive way to handle it is to turn this stupid mistake into a joke, perhaps replying to the email stating that at least it wasn't a naked picture or an adult website link. This response will likely make your co-workers laugh and have a more positive, funny, intelligent impression of you.

The other option is to become embarrassed, too apologetic or to avoid contact entirely. This overreaction will likely lead to a negative impression from co-workers because you've taken things too seriously and have made the work environment not as light and friendly.

When considering positive re-framing, it is important to note that it does not change what had actually happened. In the above example you cannot change the fact that you sent out personal information to your new co-workers.

While the situation cannot be changed, the way that you respond to the situation can be changed.

Using humor is a wonderful way to diffuse tension and make a difference in a situation that could otherwise be difficult, awkward and self-sabotaging.

All in all, optimistic people tend to look for the good in all things.

It is crucial to remind yourself that bad things are going to inevitably happen in your life. Positive re-framing is a fantastic way to make things a lot better when something embarrassing or bad comes up.

Take the time to look at all situations carefully and determine how you can re-frame the situation to make it more optimistic, fun and interesting. This will definitely make a huge improvement in the quality of your life.

How To Be More Optimistic In The Long Term

We probably all have that one friend, one relative, one colleague or one neighbor who is particularly positive and can always see the bright side of the picture.

Sometimes they are kind of annoying. But sometimes they are kind of uplifting as they are trying to bring the best out of us.

In fact, you can possibly be that positivity freak.

However, if you are not naturally inclined to be so positive all the time, you may be confused and wondering how you too can actually learn (or teach yourself) to be more optimistic.

Some people are inherently positive while others are inherently negative. Maybe it's an inborn thing. Maybe it's shaped by their childhood experience.

But are we all capable of transforming ourselves from a negative energy-draining vampire to a positive, happy, self-motivating individual?

The key lies in shifting the way you think about things.

It turns out that optimism is not simply the tendency to believe that things will turn out for the better while pessimism is not just the tendency to think things will turn out poorly.

Instead, these terms are used to describe the way a person thinks about what causes the adversity.

A pessimist tends to think about these things in a way that makes them feel powerless. For example, many pessimists attribute the adversity to internal forces, such as "Oh my god, this ruins everything!", "This is totally out of my control!", or "Oh dear, there is no way I can change this."

It is possible to change the way that you think about things. When you are faced with an adversity you're your default set of thinking makes you conclude that things are negative, take a step back, take a deep breath and let's reconsider it from a different angle.

For example, if you have an upcoming test and you are having difficulty understanding the material that is being covered, it is easy to fall into the line of thinking that you are going to fail. A healthier option is to think about ways you could better understand the material and work on learning and studying what you need in order to get a better grade on the test.

The idea is that if you are thinking you are going to fail, you probably will. Where focus goes, energy flows.

Changing your thought process and studying the material thoroughly is the only sensible option to improve your chances of success.

While our attitudes towards things are sometimes habitual, it is possible to change the way that you think about things, thus learning to be more optimistic about events.

Reading positive affirmations will help, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to reconditioning yourself to re-frame any situations in the most empowering angle so that you consciously attach a positive meaning on it.

Let's build up your awareness, train your focus muscle and transform yourself into a positive human being!

8 Simple Tips for Increasing Your Luck in Life

Luck is described by definition as “the things that happen to a person because of chance; the accidental way things happen without being planned.” So speaking in the strictest technical terms, there’s really nothing you can do to change your luck.

But that doesn’t stop most of us from trying!

Whether you believe in the power of changing your own fortune, you’re superstitious, or you simply take a different view on what exactly constitutes luck, odds are you’ve tried at one point or another to influence what happens to you seemingly by chance.

8 Tips for Increasing Your Luck in Life

Ultimately, arguing whether or not it can truly be done won’t get anyone anywhere.

Here are some simple tips for successfully increasing your luck in life.

1) Avoid Discouragement

One of the simplest keys to facilitating good luck is not to succumb to discouragement due to bad luck.

Move Me Quotes is a wonderful place to look for people who like to find inspiration and new perspectives from famous figures. And at that site, a list of quotes for positive thinking has a few different selections that speak to this idea of avoiding discouragement.

Perhaps best among them is John Wooden’s wise, almost Yogi Berra-esque quote:“Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.”

In other words, if you strive to make the most of a situation, even if it’s not an ideal one, you tend to increase the odds of things working out well in the long run. This is certainly one way to look at luck.

2) Collect Friends & Allies
Not all luck has to do with other people, but a great deal of what we’d call good fortune in life really comes down to good favours from good friends.

This is not to say that you should look to network your whole life simply to build up group of acquaintances who might one day facilitate “luck” when you need it most.

But by making and maintaining friendships, being kind to family members, neighbours and colleagues, etc., you can certainly put yourself in a better position to receive help if and when you need it one day.

Whether or not you call it luck is up to you, but the fact remains that receiving assistance from a friend in a time of need is better than the alternative!

3) Always Throw Your Hat In The Ring
The idea here is that if you don’t at least give yourself the opportunity to get lucky, you definitely won’t get lucky.

This is arguably the most significant thing to keep in mind in attempting to improve your fortunes—so much so that it’s even mentioned with regard to activities with notoriously long odds for luck.

At Lottoland, an online source for various online lotteries, there are a few different magazine articles that have been written about how to improve your shot at winning a lottery. One such article talks about odds and ends while referencing the famous Norman Vincent Peale quote, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss you’ll land among the stars.”

The idea there is that by aiming for a jackpot (the moon) you can sometimes also put yourself in the running for smaller prizes (the stars). The same principle holds up pretty consistently as a metaphor for everyday life.

4) Keep Your Eyes Open

This one is straightforward: a lot of people with optimistic outlooks and “lucky” histories will tell you that one of the keys to good fortune is seizing good luck when it’s available. Sometimes a lucky turn is right in front of us, and we’re either unable or unwilling to see it.

5) Face Your Fears

“Fortune favours the bold” is a common saying, and some may view it as a relatively hollow one. Yet when you think about it as a psychological perspective rather than a recipe for good fortune, it begins to make a lot more sense.

Inc. took on this topic in a piece on different ways to actually increase your luck, and clarified that the idea of fortune favouring the bold largely comes down to the idea of facing our fears. When you take on a task that scares you or makes you apprehensive, you may not be any likelier to fully succeed.

But because you were apprehensive to begin with, you’re more likely to view any degree of success as a lucky outcome.

6) Prepare For Optimism

Many would argue that the foundation of good luck is an optimistic outlook.

In other words, people who are inclined to be optimistic are simply more likely to view a given event or outcome as a bit of good fortune, rather than something neutral. So it’s possible that the best way to position yourself for good luck is to practice optimism.

This could mean anything from getting more sleep and focusing on personal well-being, to trying to be kinder and more enthusiastic.

7) Believe In Routine

Superstition is closely related to the belief in luck, but it usually just comes down to routine.

To get an idea of just how important this is to some very successful people, just take a look through this list of superstitious athletes including Michael Jordan, Wade Boggs, and Serena Williams.

Williams in particular goes about her business on the tennis court according to an extremely strict routine of little things, such as how many times to bounce a ball before a serve.

She’s mentioned slipping up on this routine as a reason for some of her losses over the years, and whether or not that’s the case it’s easy to see the psychology of it. When you believe in routine to this extent, sticking to it can make you feel lined up for luck.

8) Trust The Little Voice

A lot of discussions about luck ultimately come down to the idea of trusting your gut.

To some extent, this lines up with the idea of facing fears and being bold; often it’s the gut instinct that wants to be bold, and the reasonable mind that prevails and encourages more conservative action.

Aside from the idea of just being bold, the idea here is to trust your gut, or listen to the little voice inside your head that tells you, before you even have a chance to think about it, what the right decision is. Instinct is a valuable ally, and one that can often lead you down a path of good fortune.

There are still no guarantees for luck in life. If there were, we wouldn’t call it luck! But by paying attention to these tips and enacting the suggestions in your day-to-day life, you may find that you stumble across a little bit more luck in the future.

Does Being Positive Or Optimistic Help?

Does Being Positive Or Optimistic Help?

Have you ever had a friend, a family member, a co-worker who seems to be always able to see the positive side of things in every situation?

As you may guess, yes these people are called the optimists.

They tend to look at the big picture for every decision they make and always find the good ones even when everything seems to be negative in their lives.

It turns out that having a positive outlook during even the most difficult circumstances is one of the most important predictors of resilience in a person.

This particular skill is what I called reframing.

Before we talk more about reframing, there has long been advocated that in order to be happy and better handle different circumstances, one has to be able to vent their anger or negative emotions to "let their steam off".

The question is, does this actually help?

The answer is research has already shown that dwelling on the negative emotions too long can actually lead one to become even angrier and more depressed.

Where your focus goes, energy flows. What you resists, persists.

People who turn their form of expression into something more positive such as a goal will end up getting over their anger or depression more quickly.

One of the most effective things you can do in order to feel better is to channel your energy of anger or depression into a more positive goal. Those individuals who are able to do this are healthier in the long run than those people are not.

Now, you may ask, why is being positive beneficial to us?

Well, most research indicated that optimistic people normally have happier and healthier lives and are more resilient overall. These people have learned how to turn their negative feelings into positive thoughts, thus improving their overall outlook on life in general.

The main reason optimistic people are more resilient than those who are negative is because they are more emotionally complex.

Optimistic people experience frustration and anxiety just like the rest of us, the difference is that they know how to fully let go of the negativity, accept the mess, reframe the situation in a more empowering way so that they can shift their mindsets into a more resourceful one.

That's why they are able to see the bigger picture and take effective actions to keep moving forward. In essence, a resilient person will use a larger range of emotions in order to deal with every situation they face.

The benefits of positive thinking are immense and if you are a negative person right now, that's okay.

There are steps that you can take in order to become more positive about life. The first thing that you must do is to step back from each situation and gain a wider perspective.

Feel the emotional arousal you've generated.

Locate the physical tension in your body, breathe into that area.

Change your state into a more resourceful one and focus your energy into finding what's good about the situation.

That's how being optimistic will help you transmute adversities into opportunities.
