Happy Talk and 3 Simple Secrets to Happiness

What is the one thing you want more than anything else for the people you love the most? If you had a magic wand what would you grant your family and friends? What is it that everyone wants?

To be happy!

How can you make other people happy until you are happy? How can you be happy?

Lester Levenson, creator of The Sedona Method, discovered the key to happiness. He searched for 47 years and nearly died in the process but he did find it. Do you want to know what it is?

Lester had a breakthrough after much soul searching and found out how to be happy only after reviewing his entire life. He spotted a common pattern, one that was present in every happy moment.

Whenever he was feeling love towards another person he felt happy. And whenever he felt any other feeling he was not happy.

Test this principle for yourself. Think of a time when you were blissfully happy. Did you feel loving at that time? This works for me every time. Is this easy or what? Simply amazing!

If this sounds too simple to work I know that you have not tested it for yourself. Turning on a light bulb is easy too only because someone else figured it out!

Now it is time for Happy Talk or how to talk in a way that makes your family and friends happy...

1. Be Happy Yourself

Spend twenty minutes asking yourself:

who do I love most in my life?
what do I love most about myself?
what things do I love most in my life?

After doing this exercise you will feel much happier. And you will have done it without having to spend any money on expensive clothes, cars or holidays!

2. Spread the happiness

Now that you feel happy you will radiate this to whoever you spend time with. Happiness is infectious. Just be yourself and top up the happiness by quietly asking yourself the above three questions when you are in company.

3. Show your friends and family how to be happy

Depending on how well you know your friends you may want to approach this step in one of two ways.

If you want to play it safe ask your friend to talk about times when she was happy. Let her talk and just listen as she relives those wonderful times from the past.

Share your own favorite moments too. Enjoy yourself!

If the people you are with are more open to the ideas we are discussing here take them through the steps I covered above in section one. Ask them these questions:

who do you love most in my life?

what do you love most about myself?

what things do you love most in my life?

The Dalai Lama teaches that the purpose of life is to be happy. Go on and live a life of purpose with your family and friends!

p.s. I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on how to be happy! Feel free to Comment! :-)

Steps to Building Self Confidence

Self confidence, as the words suggest, is your inner feeling that gives you the assurance that you can achieve your desired results with a greater sense of responsibility. It is a belief in yourself that you can take up responsibilities and challenges in your life.

In order to attain this, you need to recognise your potential and know your inner strengths. Look at your achievements in your life's journey. Identify what is important to you and where you want to go. Replace any negative thoughts in your mind with positiveness and commit yourself to face challenges.

In order to cultivate and develop such a positive self-image the following needs to be enhanced:

1.Goals and Vision - Set realistic goals. Be a visionary and dream your goals. Convert your dreams into plans and plans into action. Stay focussed and persist in your efforts. Divide your goals into sub-goals and keeping work on them and lead them to your final goal.

2.Interpersonal Relationships - Participate in social activities. Join social clubs or charitable organisations. Get involved with people as this will channel and renew your energy. Share your thoughts, view, hopes and aspirations with your near ones.

3.Communication Skills - Learn to interact with people using charm in your conversation. Recognising and complimenting others for their achievements will boost your desires to achieve similar results.

4.Knowledge - Enhance your knowledge by reading as much as possible on varied subjects. Newspapers, magazines provide lot of information and updates. Watch appropriate channels and programs on television to broaden your knowledge. This will give you confidence when you meet people, make presentations etc.

It is worthwhile that whenever you achieve something, take pride in your achievements. Congratulate yourself. It will boost your morale. Reflect on your successes and consolidate your confidence.

A good way of doing this is to display in your house any certificates or awards you have won in the past as this will motivate you to win more laurels. Keep appreciating these small achievements for enhancing your positive attitudes and inner strength.

One must however be also ready to face setbacks as these are only challenges that occasionally stand between you and your goals. Persistence is the key to success. Analyse the situation and take corrective steps. Do everything possible to bounce back with much more vigor till desired results are obtained.

Self confidence is all about you and your goals. You can only draw inspiration from other sources, but action is what you have to take. Action in the right direction. When you are self confident, you do what you believe to be right even if others mock or criticize you. You take risks and go the extra mile to achieve better things.

9 Methods Of Benefiting From Criticism

Would you rather listen to someone tell you that you have beautiful eyes or that you're a terrible dancer? Compliments are easy to take. Criticism isn't quite as easy to take in. But criticism can be vital to your long-lasting success. Criticism is nothing more than advice in disguise.

You can decide to take advantage of it or ignore it. Nonetheless, not all criticism is accurate, well-intended, or beneficial.

Obtain criticism and use it to your benefit:
1. Adjust your viewpoint. We naturally love to listen to compliments as well as shy away from criticism. While compliments feel great, they do not accomplish much else. Objection can hurt, yet can inevitably be incredibly helpful. Discover how to value objection and criticism. You could even consider seeking objection as a tool for finding out how you can improve, and also as a useful tool for self-development.
2. Identify if the criticism is useful or harmful. Damaging objection can be overlooked. The intent of the person giving destructive criticism, is to create damage and harm. Constructive criticism has the possibility to be helpful. Consider the source and also the scenario prior to listening to the objective of the criticizer.
3. Swallow your pride. No one appreciates becoming aware of their imperfections or errors. Nevertheless, constructive criticism can be a valuable gift. Possibly you're discovering something that would certainly have taken years to determine by yourself. Leave your vanity at the door and also listen. No person is perfect.
4. Take your time. There's a propensity to react quickly as well as adversely to objection and criticism. You may deserve to be distressed, but then again, you might not.
Take the time to think of it before responding. If possible, sleep on it or even take the weekend to ponder it.
5. Don't be so hard on yourself. Simply because you may have done something the wrong way does not indicate you're less beneficial as a person. Go easy on yourself. Managing criticism and objection well is one method to reveal on your own that you truly do stand out from the crowd.
Few individuals can take criticism well. You'll have a big advantage over others if you can.
6. Take into consideration the validity. When criticism comes from the appropriate resource, it's most likely to be helpful and true. Be objective as well as determine if there is fact to the criticism. Often, individuals are running from misconceptions. Not all criticism is valid. It's up to you to figure out if the objection has any worth.
7. Include the info into your life. Now you recognize that you can be impatient, inexpensive, remote, or that you're a bad driver. Make a plan to resolve this concern if it is important to you. Remember that if a relied on source wanted to bring it up, it might be crucial. Provide it with the focus it deserves.
8. Decide that you're going to do better next time. You'll have plenty of chances to put your new understanding to the test. Bide your time until that chance shows up. This perspective can do marvels for your self-worth and also give you a sense of control over your life. Simply keep trying to improve. There's always tomorrow to try again.

9. Be grateful. It's hard to offer positive criticism to a friend, employee, or member of the family. Be thankful that somebody wanted to do that for you.
You can choose to snap or decide to be grateful when criticism comes your way. Some criticism is only meant to be upsetting and ought to be neglected. Constructive criticism from a trusted source can be a fantastic learning opportunity. Think about whether the objection is accurate as well as legitimate prior to considering it.
Be grateful for the constructive criticism you receive. It wasn't easy on the person providing it.

Why You Should Start A Passion Project

Is there something you yearn to do? Maybe you haven't told anyone... but still, you keep thinking about it.

Maybe you dream of publishing a graphic novel
or taking the world of knitting by storm with bespoke mittens.

Maybe you are fascinated by origami
or you've always wanted to learn Italian.

But so far you haven't pursued it because it doesn't seem practical. Or responsible. You've got a list of things to do and if it's not on the list, it's not important. Who has time to be frivolous?
I invite you to start a passion project.
A passion project is a trendy name for doing something that excites and inspires you. You do it for your own satisfaction, not for anybody else's. It piques your curiosity and spurs your energy. It doesn't need a purpose.
If you're already thinking "I don't have time for that", then consider this: passion projects are about fostering your well-being by doing something that lights you up.
Passion projects are about freedom too, because there are no rules about what a passion project should be.
The way to begin finding your passion is simple: be curious. Pay attention to what interests you. Your project is something you are drawn to, not something you think your way to. That's why it's a passion project - it elicits a strong emotion. It makes you feel like "Oooh! Yes, THAT!"

If you find yourself describing it with language like "implementing synergistically scalable benefits" you are probably heading in the direction of a resumé-padding project, not a passion project. Check in with your curiosity again.

Are you still resisting your project? Don't judge or censor your ideas with criticisms like "that's silly" or "I can't do that" or "what will people think".It's not about the results, it's about creative action on your terms.
You get to devote as much time and energy to it as you want. Remember, the main benefit of doing a passion project is this: it feels good. It nourishes your spirit. Do not underestimate the power of generating positive feelings - this is what happiness is made of.
A passion project may provide other benefits like learning new skills, meeting new people, contributing to a current career or developing a new one. These bonuses are like icing on the cake. But even if they don't happen, the inspiration, sense of satisfaction and meaning the project provides will carry over into other areas of your life in beneficial ways.
University of Pennsylvania professor Adam Grant writes about pursuing creative interests: "Relative to typical scientists, Nobel Prize winners are 22 times more likely to perform as actors, dancers or magicians; 12 times more likely to write poetry, plays or novels; seven times more likely to dabble in arts and crafts; and twice as likely to play an instrument or compose music."
Play with your curiosity and let yourself explore something new. You never know where your "Oooh! Yes, THAT!" will take you.

Getting Things Done Through Motivation

This article is about getting things done by riding on the back of your initial motivation.
There is a window within which we need to do things/get tasks done. Particularly when it comes to working with other people. If you have a meeting for instance, try to follow up the actions you establish at the meeting (make them clear, simple and specific) within three days. If you don't work on the weekends be mindful of the fact that that's two days lost.
If you can't follow up within three days contact the person with/for whom you have agreed to carry out the actions and give them as accurate an estimation as you can as to how long it is going to take you to follow through. This contact is to aid continuity.
In the 21st Century and particularly this age of speed, ideas, concepts and actions go stale very quickly and easily. People are becoming more and more impatient and want fast results. To keep up it's vital that you become really clear (and good) at estimating what you can take on and how long things will take you.
So in terms of follow-up actions try these tips for yourself:
1. During the meeting, when taking notes put an A in a circle next to anything you need to action
2. Back at the office/at home action anything that can be done immediately (that will take you ten minutes or less). Transfer those actions that will take you longer to a master list. Make them as clear as possible.
3. Estimate how long each action will take and therefore your overall timeframe (bearing in mind everything else you need to do.) Keep it real. Give yourself an absolute cut-off date by which all the actions will be completed.
4. Contact the other person/people involved within three days informing them of the approximate timeframe of the longer actions but add on an extra 10-20% to allow for slippage.
5. Incorporate each action into your days/weeks/months, keeping others informed of progress.
6. Keep focused, ticking off actions as you go, and ensuring you're not distracted from other tasks that come along.
7. Try not to go beyond your cut-off date but if you need to (because of unexpected emergencies) inform all involved and set a second cut-off date as close to the first as possible.
8. Celebrate when you complete each action (even if it is just taking satisfaction in ticking/crossing it off a list)
Using this system will ensure your tasks don't become stale.

THE MINDSET BEHIND SUCCESS.

The law of attraction. If you can see it , you can have it. Ask, believe and you shall receive.

Developing Strong Manifesting Power

If the truth be told, you already know exactly how to create in a powerful and almost instant way. You've been doing it your whole life. The problem is you've been using this power to create what you fear, what you hope doesn't happen and what you most deeply dislike over and again.

Now to discover the conscious way of creating exactly that which you most desire to experience. Leave the fear and dread at the door and move into a brand new way of life.

First get very clear about exactly what you want. Write down your dreams and then go back over them to fill in the details all the way to the end. For example if you want more money, start there, but go all the way to what you want the money for. Do you want freedom to travel? Where to? Do you desire a nice home? What exactly does it look like. Being detailed brings a vividness to your dreams.
Once you have moved into a full knowledge of what you desire to experience use your most powerful manifestation tool, your imagination. Go deeper than just thinking of your dreams, be there in the real life experience of you being, doing, experiencing from that very reality. You do this when you worry, you create a final picture of what "will happen" and feel it very deeply. Use that level of imagination to FEEL your state of being, your new life, new you, during this time of imagination.

Practice this morning, noon and night until it is more real to you than the life you are now living. It gets easier as you go along and you will begin to feel an urging to go into the imagined state to participate with that life. Follow that nudge and allow yourself to feel that you are that new person living that new life.
You must at last be willing to receive this new life through awareness of it forming around you. Celebrate each unfolding experience. Understand that as the new begins to form the old you, the old life, will begin to fall away. Don't grab on and try to keep them or you will return to your old life with nothing changed. Accept that this is the natural way of manifestation. A seed when put into the darkness of the earth transforms into a new experience. This is the way of creation.
These are the only steps you need to consciously create a new life, practice them faithfully and you will soon develop strong manifestation powers whereby you create exactly according to your desires.

3 Simple Strategies For Massive Goal-Setting Success That Works Like Magic

The ability to set goals the correct way constitutes an essential skill that can make or break your personal and professional success in life. The manner in which you do so will determine the speed in which you can achieve your goals, or whether or not you can achieve them in the first place.
So if you often find yourself setting goals, but not achieving them at all, this article is for you. Here are 3 strategies that I use to massively improve my goal-setting success, to quadruple the rate of achievement of my desires in half the time.

Strategy #1: Write down your goals

Yes, you got it right! The first step to any goal-setting endeavour is to first write down your goals. It seems like a common sense and obvious thing to do. Unfortunately, many of us have the intention to achieve something (e.g. lose weight, get a promotion, earn more money) but did not crystallize it by writing it down. Your goal will thus merely exist as a thought, an intention, or a dream, and that is why they never become a reality!
Therefore, the first step in any goal-setting endeavour is to always first write down your goals. By doing so, you create the first action toward your desires, and transform your thought into a commitment that becomes more real to you.

Strategy #2: Revisit your goals every day
After writing your goals, it is useless if you only revisit your goal at the end of the year, and realized you have not achieved anything at all! Therefore, it is vital that you revisit your goals every single day. Write your goals on a piece of paper, look at it at least once every morning, and ask yourself what would you do today to bring you one step closer to your goals.
By revisiting your goals consistently, you can re-align your day towards the key objectives you will very much want to achieve.

Strategy #3: Announce your goals
The third strategy you can adopt is to simply announce your goals. Tell your family, friends, and colleagues about the goals you will want to achieve. Studies have shown that if you announce your goals, the probability of backing out on these goals decreases tremendously.
In addition, trusted friends and colleagues who are supportive of your endeavours can point you to valuable resources, advice and people who can help you achieve your goals in record time! They can also hold you accountable to your goals, further ensuring that you achieve your goals despite the excuses you might use to give up on your goals.
Unfortunately, many people are uncomfortable in announcing their goals to the supportive people around them. So get over the discomfort and start announcing them.
Conclusion
The three simple strategies presented in this article are relevant and applicable. You can use it immediately during your next goal-setting exercise. Apply these strategies the next time you set goals, and watch the magic unfold.

Letting Go of the Fear of the Future

In the future, there is a true hope. In the future, there is a reflection of the abundance and gratitude of today.
Letting go of the fear of the future means, in general, letting go of most of your fears.
Just think about it: 99% of all of our worries and fears are connected only and exclusively with thoughts about the future:
·        What will tomorrow bring us?
·        What if it were something highly unpredictable, or even painful?
·        Will I be able to handle it?
·        Am I ready for that?
·        How will I protect my family?
·        How will I deal with that?
But, what happens when we let go of all these fears?

What happens when we surrender ourselves to the uncertainty of the future, letting ourselves experience all the feelings that lie behind, and letting them simply go, once and forever?
Can we even do that?
Can Letting Go take us so far?
After several Letting Go meditations related to the uncertainty of the future, some interesting revelations came to me when all the negative emotions behind these fears were surrendered, released, and let go.
The most surprising one was the realization that there is not such a thing as a future.
Any moment of our life we live at is defined by being in a state of a clear presence. We simply can't live in the past or future; we can only live in the present.
So, all we can really be fearful of, is just our presence, as this is the only state that we are actually experiencing. Yes, we can also think of extensions, multiplication or variations of the presence, which are often falsely altered with the word "future", but it is still just another form of the presence.

Now, this is great news.
Why?
Because the good thing about the presence is, that we can shape it and define it exactly as we want to - in any given moment. We can instantly decide if we want to be joyful or fearful right now, if we want to be exuberant or impoverished. We have the power of the full choice about the presence, about the actual, instant moment.
But, because the future is, in fact, just an extension or multiplication (or variation) of the presence, by shaping our presence, we can then immediately shape our future as well:
If we feel true hope today, we already create it for our future too.
If we feel abundance and gratitude today, we already create it for our future as well.
I admit that this concept can be a bit difficult to understand for most of you right now. However, after several letting go of these future related issues, you will start seeing it clearer.. This concept needs to be fully experienced (by letting go of the barriers for this experience) first, in order to be able to absolutely understand it, accept it and take great advantages of it.
So here is letting go process of the fear of the future:
1. In a quiet place, close your eyes and think of any of your recent fears about the future.
2. Start noticing the feelings (as they will start coming up) behind your thoughts.
3. Don't try to label these feelings in any way, rationalize or analyze them. Just let them come out and express themselves.
4. Start surrendering yourself to these feelings slowly, let them express themselves fully all over your body (or any other part where you feel them most intensively). Don't push them back, don't block them or act on them either. Just let them be in their natural way and instead, be an independent observer of them, as if they weren't even yours.
5. After a while, make a decision about letting them go once and forever, and then let them actually go and disappear.

The process above will probably need to be, in the case of many people, repeated during the following days, or even weeks, to start experiencing the new, clear perception of the concept of the future (anxiety about the future is in general quite a strong issue) and to start experiencing how worries about the future begin to vanish.
Remember that, with Letting Go, we can't control the moment of the revelation. All we can do is to let go and then let the revelation come to us in the moment it is ready to come. I can guarantee you, that sooner or later it will come, if we let go and surrender ourselves properly. There is no other way.By letting go and surrendering ourselves, we clear the path ahead of us; we clear the vision, and we only need to wait for our own conscious and unconscious mind to adjust to this new reality. Paradoxically, our own brain is quite often the weakest link in our growth!

5 Ways to Get Inspired by Yourself

It is not difficult to find out newer ways daily to fall in love with yourself, though people tend to forget the actual meaning of life and get depressed easily with what life comes through. But in all the depression nonsense you face daily, you should always find newer ways to get indulge with yourself or to simply what is said, ''fall in love'' with yourself. Here are 5 ways to get inspired by yourself and to know the how beautiful life is.
1. Appreciate Your Best Quality
The best way to get inspired by yourself is to find peace in whatever you are best at doing; for example, you think you can cook well? On a low day, cook for yourself or your family your favorite dish and get ready to achieve all the admiration and appreciation, this is probably the best way how one should start loving themselves, or you think you have any other talent, just give it a start because you can never disappoint the quality you are best at.
2. Challenge Your Limits

You think you cannot drive alone? Well this is when you should definitely be driving alone and gain confidence, nothing can stop you from challenging your limits therefore it is said that there is way beyond the skies, don't settle for less and don't let others things you have fail. Or your friends think you cannot cook? Show them what a terrific chef you can be, when you get the appreciation and admiration from people or from your inner self, that is when you find peace and get relaxed.

3. Come Out of Your Comfort Zone
Don't ever think that your limit is your comfort zone, after facing the challenges it's time now to come out of your comfort zone and try out the bigger challenges of life, not everyone is brave enough to do something which is not their strength and whatever they are perfect at but by doing such tasks you upgrade a level up in your own eyes.
4. Travel Alone
When you travel alone with only your own company & with just a phone in your hand and a small bag full of your goods, it is the best way out to explore yourself. travelling give you the sort of inspiration you always seek in others, when you roam around the unknown streets alone and discover the new ways of getting out of any trouble, that is when you become your own hero.

What's more soothing than helping a person in need? Someone for whom you are the only angel and the helping hand, to become your own hero you have to be someone else's hero and prove how genuinely you wanted to offer this helping hand. Real maturity comes when you start thinking about others first and become a source of help and prosperity for someone. Just by giving food to the hungry, clothes to the naked and shelter to the homeless is enough to generate likelihood for you. At the end of the day you can sleep in respite that you made a difference today.

10 Amazing Life Lessons I’ve Learned from Tony Robbins

Have you ever been to a Tony Robbins event? Thousands of people are screaming “MAKE YOUR MOVE! SAY YES! SAY YES!” The crowd goes wild as the inspirational giant leads everyone into a peak state right before they walk across a bed of fiery, burning hot coals—a metaphorical experience for being unstoppable.
Some people may mistake Tony Robbins’s books, audio programs and seminars as motivational. Although they continue to uplift millions of people around the world, they are much more than merely motivational. But Tony is consulted even more often as a peak performance strategist and I’d say his results back up the title. He’s successfully coached athletes like Andre Agassi, who came from a slump back to #1 in the tennis world, as well as leaders in the financial world like Paul Tudor Jones, whom Tony has worked with for 21 years and who’s made money every single year no matter where the market has been. Tony has also been credited by many people with helping them transform and upgrade their health, psychology, relationships, business and finances—in other words, their lives.
Having attended several of Tony’s seminars and listened to almost every audio program he has, there are 10 amazing life lessons I’ve learned from the man himself. They can be implemented by anyone today to profoundly increase their quality of life.

1. Trade your expectations for appreciations
If you trade your expectations for appreciations, you’ll immediately feel grateful. And it’s when we’re grateful that we feel rich and wealthy, regardless of how our lives look financially or materialistically.
Last week I met my dad’s longtime friend and business partner and he’s got tons of energy despite being at an age where he’d be considered an elderly man. When I asked him what his secret was to having so much energy, he told me that he always counts his blessings. In other words, he cultivates gratitude.
What can you feel grateful for right now? This is a question I learned from Tony that I ask myself often.
2. Where focus goes, energy flows
What we focus on feels real to us in the moment, and whatever we pay more attention to in our lives grows. If we’re focused on how we can add more value to our clients, we’ll consistently find ways to add more value to their lives. If we’re focused on our excuses for why we can’t achieve something, we’ll empower that limiting belief more and more.
Tony’s excellent at guiding the focus of a room full of thousands of people in his seminars, and you can be too. He does this most effectively by asking specific questions. It’s our questions that direct our focus. And when we get to the root of it, we all have at least one primary question that drives our lives, that drives our focus, that directs our energy, and that creates our story and our life.
Where’s your focus at right now? Where does it need to be to grow and contribute more in your life?

3. Be results-focused rather than activity-focused

When you know the result you’re after, you’ll come up with greater actions to take to get you your results more effectively, efficiently, and rapidly.
I used to be a huge to-do list guy. I’d make one every day when I’d wake up in the morning and cross out my to-dos as I’d progress through my day. I found the to-do list process unfulfilling over time and often overwhelming when I’d have many to-dos. Then I discovered the RPM plan (results-focused, purpose-driven, massive action plan). This planning method and mindset allowed me to increase my results and productivity up to 10 times faster each week. It worked because I knew what my result was, I knew why I wanted it, and I had a high quality massive action plan to get me my result.
What’s the result you’re after right now? What’s your outcome from reading this post? Is it to learn and implement 10 amazing life lessons that can help you grow more in your life? Is it to cure boredom in the moment?

4. A 2 mm change is sometimes all you need

In soccer, the difference between scoring a goal versus missing the goal is within 2 mm. It’s the difference between hitting the sweet spot on the ball rather than coming under the ball making the shot fly over the crossbar.
The same metaphor can be applied to our business, relationships, health, and finances. For example, maybe you get greater conversions from your sales copies when you highlight the benefits. Or maybe you feel more connected with the people you have relationships with when you hug them with a warmer and tighter squeeze. Or maybe you notice that your energy magnifies when you drink wheatgrass juice in the morning rather than a coffee.
What’s the 2 mm change that you can make in your body today to profoundly increase your health and vitality? Business? Relationships? Finances?

5. The Triad: physiology, focus and, language

We can master our emotional states with a specific recipe of how we use our body, focus, and language.
If you’re standing tall with your chest out, shoulders back, chin up and your fists in the air while you’re focused on an awesome victory and you’re shouting with total joy and pride “I am a champion!” then you will feel like a victorious champ.
If you’re sitting down with your shoulders slumped, your chin down to your chest with your head leaning forward while you’re focusing on how you’ve failed once again and your thinking, “Why am I such a failure?” then you’ll feel like a depressed failure.
Guess what? You can influence how you move your body, what you focus on, and the language you use to describe any moment. That means you can directly influence your emotions, and by being aware of your physiology, focus, and language, you can master your habitual emotions over time.
How’s your posture right now? What are you focusing on? What words are you using to describe your current experience? What can you do to upgrade your emotional state right now with your physiology, focus and language?

6. The 6 human needs

This was possibly one of the top three greatest things I’ve learned from Tony Robbins. No matter where you’re from, what your background or story is, Tony says that there are 6 fundamental human needs that we all share and that drive our lives. We generally value two out of the six needs most and we filter our life choices, decisions, and habits based on meeting these primary needs first. The 6 human needs are…
Certainty—assurance you can avoid pain and gain pleasure
Uncertainty/Variety—the need for the unknown, change, new stimuli
Significance—feeling unique, important, special or needed
Connection/Love—a strong feeling of closeness or union with someone or something
Growth—an expansion of capacity, capability or understanding
Contribution—a sense of service and focus on helping, giving to, and supporting others
One person might meet their needs on a strong level for certainty, variety, significance, and connection through smoking cigarettes. They can feel certain or comfortable from smoking cigarettes whether it’s a habit they’ve had for a long time or because they can feel like they can relax from having a deep exhale. They can feel variety because smoking a cigarette instantly changes your biochemistry and state. They can feel significant if they see smoking as a cool thing to do or being the guy or girl who offers someone a cigarette, and they can feel connection by smoking with others.
Another person can meet those same needs through daily exercise. They can feel certain that they’ll feel great and energized from exercising. They can experience variety through mixing up workouts, through the biochemical change that takes place in their body, and through training different muscle groups. They can experience significance by being someone who values their body and by having a ripped body. They can experience connection and love for themselves for taking great care of their body and by exercising with others.
Tony said that whenever we have a habit, emotion, or thought that meets at least three of our needs on at least a level of 6 out of 10, then we form an addiction. The fastest way to break an addiction is to replace the addiction with a vehicle that meets the needs or more needs in a better way.
Which two needs do you value most right now in your life?

7. Change your story, change your life

We all have stories for our lives. Most of the time, we tell them unconsciously to ourselves and to others. For example, how’s your day been so far? The answer you’re thinking of right now is a story, and the fun part is you have the ability to define your story. You might not be able to change the events and circumstances that happen in your life, but you can certainly choose the meaning for them.

8. Decisions lead to destiny

“It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” – Tony Robbins
It is not our circumstances that define our destiny, rather the decisions we make, because each decision we make leads us to a destination in our lives. There are three decisions we’re always making consciously or subconsciously: what am I going to focus on, what does it mean to me, and what am I going to do about it?
What’s one of the greatest decisions you’ve made in your life? What would your life be like if you didn’t make that decision?

9. The 3 mandates of a leader

The three mandates of a leader start with seeing the situation as it is, not worse than it is. Then seeing it better than it is. And finally, making it the way you want to see it.
I remember when I was 13, I got super inspired to play soccer professionally. At the time, I hadn’t played soccer in years and most of my friends who did had been playing with a club team by then. I went out and played with some friends and realized that my skills at the time weren’t as good as the club players. Rather than give up or think less of myself, I was so inspired by the dream that I clearly asked coaches to give me an evaluation on where my skills stood and what I needed to improve on in order to play on a competitive level club team. Once I knew where I was and had a clear idea of where I wanted to be and how to get there, I took massive action to propel my skills and within a few short years I was playing with an MLS Academy team and invited to play college soccer.
In what area of your life can you practice the three mandates of a leader right now to live a more energy-rich and legendary life? In what area of your life have you been practicing the three mandates?
