The 5 Minute Trick That Gets Yourself Back In State

The 5 Minute Trick That Gets Yourself Back In State

If you are in a depressed, hopeless, negative state, everything that happens around you will be interpreted as bad, scarce or uninspiring. Conversely, if you are in an excited, happy, positive state, everything will seem hopeful, optimistic and abundant.
So one of the greatest keys to peak performance is to be able to recognize your emotional state, catch yourself when you notice you're in the trough, and get yourself back to the peak state as quickly as possible.
Since body and mind is interconnected, you can influence each other with another.

However, it's extremely hard to talk yourself out of the emotional trough because emotions are not logical. Emotions have a much stronger controlling force than your logic that influences your behaviors.
If logic alone is enough, then there wouldn't have so many people who are obese, broke, fearful and uninspired. Most people know what's right to do and what should be done, but they lack the emotional fortitude to follow through.
So, your best bet to influence your mind is to make a radical shift in your body (i.e. physiology).
What my clients and I have found is that your body's motion creates certain emotions. If you remain still and sedentary, you normally feel calm, peaceful or neutral. However, if you drastically shake your body and do all kinds of gestures, you will feel excited, powerful and pumped up.
One of my favorite ways to get myself back to peak state is to pop in my favorite Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and then dance like crazy for 1-2 songs. Then if there's something I'm procrastinating on, I would just tell myself to work for 5 minutes and decide if I want to continue later on.
With these high energy music and having changed my heart rate, blood circulation and breathing rate, I will most likely to get myself back to the dominant, assertive, unstoppable state to conquer my fears and goals.
This is not some "hype up" motivational strategy.
What you're doing is making a real change in your physical and chemical reactions inside your body, which will release chemicals like endorphins that make you feel good.
Nearly every time when you can get yourself to just do 5 minutes of work, you will have overcome the physical inertia and started to develop momentum to continue your task.
It's a very nice little trick to make sure you follow through, make sure you try it today.
